Are Prereleases worth it?

I'm not sure is HS-Undaunted worth the 25 dollars. Is it? Because the primes dont look so good to me. Explain why if they're worth it or not please. Thanks in advance.

well kinda depends if you want alot of cards from the set and love the feel of deck-building, tournamnets, etc. sure but sets you dont really want any/few than thats up to you

I think this set is going to be pretty good. Twenty-five dollars for eight packs and a pack of sleeves is a good deal. I personally love pre-releases the first one I went to was Majestic Dawn and I haven't missed a set since.

I think the Primes this set are pretty good. Scizors decent along w/ houndoom.Umbreons pretty cool.

I have alot of fun making decks at pre release plus you get the pre release stamped card.

I think its good for collectors, people who are just starting to understand how the game is played and people who just want the new cards sooner then their friends.

Is a pre release worth it?

In a word; YES.

In detail;
Yes its worth it because you get an advanced look into the set. Not all people just look at the scans a month in advance. Our gym leader for example never looks ahead. He waits til the pre release.

For me, I like it because its a good financial deal.
Normally, a booster pack will cost about $4.65 (including tax) in my area. Lets round up to 5.00 dollars.
The pre release gives you 8 packs in the end. 6 for the event and 2 as a parting gift.

To buy 8 packs of cards at the store would cost about $40.00 dollars then!
So for me, I go to the PR and then never buy any more of that set. lol

In your case, it comes down to weather or not you like the set. If you dislike all the cards in it, it doesnt matter what it costs.

Its cheaper cost, but still a personal preference.

Oh yea. :)

Prereleases are a great time to have some fun, and they only come aroung 3 times a year. There are also many nice primes in this set (Scizor, Slowking, Umbreon) and legends.

the packs are at a discount, and the sleeves and promos are worth something too. not to mention its a good tourney. they're more than worth it.

I generally go to events like that just to hang out with people.
As a collector I like having the english cards early and the sleeves. Not to mention, it's cheaper in the long run as others have said.

Def. going to Undaunted this time around. Missed Unleashed due to weird things happnin'.

It depends if you have looked at some of the cards from the new set already. If there are some cards you definitely want, I say go for it. I go to all the pre-releases because it's just fun to build a 40 card deck.

In my personal experience(by the way, I have been going to preleases frequently since the EX Crystal Guardians set came out!) preleases are not only worth it because the card packs are sold at a bargain (as explained earlier). If you happen to come upon an ultra-rare card(which is pretty likley with 8 packs to open); people will pay and trade THROUGH THE ROOF to get said ultra-rare card. So, it is a great potentail money/card maker as well. (And people will pay more for rare cards on Ebay as well, because preleases are usually 2 weeks before the actual release of the set, so they are therefore worth more!!)

Go to the prerelease!! I only go to prereleases, and I haven't bought a pack since Ex Power Keepers, and I have the biggest collection of cards at my local area.

How big is this "local area"? And what does the size of your card collection have to do with the prereleases anyway? Saying that implies you got most(or all) of your cards from prereleases!

Other things I have to point out about Pre-Releases are that:

They are WITHOUT A DOUBT the easiest way to get basic energy!!

The sleeves that are given out are only given out at those specified torniaments, therefore making them collector's items and by association worth A LOT of money.

I used to get so much cards from prereleases when they gave boxes for winning one :p I won every prerelease from Ruby Sapphire Challenge to Deoxys, when I took a break from playing. But even though there are no prizes, it's a fun format, you get sleeves, and a chance to make your bets by trading for what you expect to be the best cards!

I love it. You see friends, meet new people, and you get more packs and stuff at a $25 price than you would if you were to go out and buy those packs at Target or something. You get sleeves for one, and you get the Prerelease card too, which is also pretty rare.
