Art of the Week #2: Results: congrats to Silver_Cyh and Nekoban Ryo!

I'm OK at drawing humans, as you can see here. Actually, I might clean up the invisible background and submit that next week.

There are some of us who can't draw at all >_>

But this being a drawing topic, surely would only apply to people who can draw? I mean it would only be logical.

Okay, maybe this will ease some of the GFX-VS-Tradional tension...XD

Anyways, how about a theme simply named "Light" every artist participating would try thier best to draw thier meaning of light, whether they think that it means good-vs-evil, or maybe a simple lightbulb. It would give free reign and all that jazz.

Plus the topic of human characters isn't fair for GFXers. We can't all be born with the talent to draw, nor can we all be born with the talent of graphics. -shrugs-

Plus, this is an "Art" contest. Not a "Drawing" contest, or a "Graphics" contest.

Just trying to ease tension~
^^;

We should not be limited to humans. That doesn't even make sense.
We SHOULD have only one entry per person I think.

We could have themes for each week too.

Yeah...if we were to have themes, it would be something broad such as aggie's suggestion of light. That way everyone, whether you prefer GFX or traditional art could have an equal opportunity.

What do you guys think about the timeline of the contest? Like, how much time would be ideal to get your entries submitted from concepts to finished piece?

What Aggs said. That would be cool to see how everyone interpreted a theme. With all the different art styles in this thread, I think we would get some pretty diverse results

Back when I was away for college, my art professors usually gave us 2 weeks to complete each project.
I think that would be pretty reasonable here as well, though I DID run late on about 3 of those projects. ^^'

I agree with Nekoban Ryo. When I had my share of college art classes, we at times had upwards to two weeks on any given assignment. Then we moved on.

IMO: Other members who can assemble great works within a single week shouldn't have to wait for so long just because some others like to dilly-dally. If you can't complete your art in time for the contest then don't enter. Simple as that.

It's called Art of The Week, not Art of the Weeks.

I apologize for sounding kind of rude. :p

Any other input as to what you guys'd like to see? Week 3 will start soon, likely tomorrow, and I want all of your opinions first! :)

Stupid question:

Can I join starting on Week 3? I'm a great artist and I'd really like to join, but the list is full. or for each week do the signups restart?

The signups restart each week, and there's no limit to the number of participants. I look forward to seeing you entry for Week 3, Robot!
