Gee is anyone else besides me curious about how Ash series, after SERIES no matter how many there has been always stays the same age?!?!?!

Really by now he should be and look, and ACT like a 16, or 17 year old. It's true due to the fact that over a series, in real life it would last for about 8 monts, or even a full year.!>!

Just Curious. And he stays the same height, and his appearance has not even the slightest change!!

It's really dumb i think, and yes although he has to stay the same all the way through, i think that SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE!!!!

I have two theories on this:

1) The personal time loop theory (PTL). Everyone in the pokemon world is caught in a personal time loop which causes them to repeat things, or at the least never truly change. In Ash's case, he never learns anything new, and whenever he grows/ages the next day later he reverts back to his original state. It also explains why Ash looks at his pokedex for things he has already seen before.

The PTL also explains other things. When team rocket blasts away, they don't have to fear death/injuries/being-eaten-by-Ursaring because, thanks to the PTL, they will simply return back to the way they were the day after. It has also affected the team rocket boss, who hires them again and again due to the PTL which is a good reason why Team Rocket have yet to be unemployed.

2) The animators are bloody lazy and don't want to bother changing him.

Like Prof Oak,How did he grow so old?

well i suppose the more it doesn't make sense the more people start to question it, and it being sooooo confusing, and un-realistic is the thing that attracts soo many people to POKEMON!!! xD

That's why I like Naruto Anime more than Pokemon. In 2.5 years, Naruto really grew up, became stronger and things like that. It's just stupid that the same doen't happen to Ash.

To the teory of the Pokedex I think I have the answer. Every time he goes to another region, he receives a new shiny Pokedex. That's why he must check is Pokedex to gather information. (although not very realistic I think this is what happens.)

Ah... The pokemon universe never changes because of the PTL, prof oak has been old since forever. In other words, he never had to grow up! This only applies to humans I guess, as pokemon tend to evolve.

Anyhow, yes, PTL theory pretty much explains anything :p

I guess it's just like most comics/mangas/cartoons/...the characters never grow up, die, get injured or get smarter. I know it's pretty annoying at times (ash being an eternal noob), but I guess an 18-year-old ash would just scare the kids away :p

the PTL also explains why every region is considered "new", although so many people have lived there for so long, they just keep on re-discovering it :F
 
ash's image is phenomenal in the world. they can't just let it change and grow (though i hate it). or maybe its the curse of Misty's bike :D
 
I dont really know what words to say but its kinda like this situation:

in Tom & Jerry. Its like when everytime Tom chases Jerry. Tom gets injured at the end of the episode then on the next episode, everything is new again, but in a different situation now. Like in Pokemon, it is really obvious that the episodes are pretty much repetitive like cartoons ( you know...its like a cycle: visit new town -> friendly people invite them to stay for awhile in their house -> the find out about an event there / discover new pokemon -> team rocket comes -> TR fails -> BLAST OFF!!! -> ..to be continued. Its always like that ). That is one thing i dont really like about pokemon, new story every episode...and theres not really a main plot ( aisde from ash wanting to be PMaster ) Sorry if i went overboard. Anyway, all i can say that IT IS A CARTOON LIKE ANY OTHER..NOTHING CHANGES ON THE CHARACTER...MORE CARTOON THAN ANIME :D

The only new aspect to look at here is his voice.  Which is cracking at the moment. =D
 
Ash did get a tan when he whent to hoenn and kept it when he came back to kanto.Though i think that was due to a hotter climate:/
 
Okay. I think I've got it. The reason that Ash seems to not learn anything new is because in every single region, the Pokédex will give new information on a Pokémon. That's why he refers to his Pokédex every time he sees a Pokémon, regardless of whether or not he's seen it already. And Professor Oak aged quite a bit. So did Nurse Joy in the Celebi episode of Pokémon Chronicles. Ash started out when he was ten, didn't he? So, would be around twelve, wouldn't he? The PTL seems to be flawed, at least in my eyes, since Team Rocket has always stated that they have been trying to catch Pikachu since they first saw it. They've even stated that they're "trademarked". So, yeah, that's what I think.
 
well no...he doesnt stay the same age...look at him in the forst seres, and look at him now...BIG difference..his voice has goten a lot manlier...:D
 
Ash's secret is that he has animators to redraw him again and again. And do we have animators? No....we just keep getting older and older... haha :p
 
I've got a simple explanation.
Every major adventure he goes on lasts around a year. My evidence? When Ash goes back to Viridian City to get his Earth Badge, Brock says "It's hard to believe its been almost a year since we were last here." So I'd say its safe to assume that its the same with every region.
And, taking into account that the sidequests, such as the Orange Islands, Whirl Islands, and Battle Frontier, only last for a couple months at most, Ash is no older than 14.
Word to the wise: Anime time does not have any corollation what so ever to real time! Take DBZ for example: They have long spans of episodes, sometimes upwards of fifteen, that take place in roughly the span of one hour.
 
Atually if u've every looked on the bio's on the 10th movie site, and on of them looks like this:

... : ... <- that would his age, and since i have a rosetta stone decoder program, decodes letter of other language and converts them in to english, i know know Ash's true age:

14!!! woot, he's 1 year younger to me!!!

with the age bit if you look at the first episode ad compare it to newest ones he is:
looks older
sounds more mature
and has grow up a lot more (no more throwing rocks at spearows)

but its proberly better animation

it would be not as cool if he grew up to much, the simpson for example they started in 1989 - 1991??

bart: 27
lisa: 25
maggie: 18

there are already shows like these on tv and with the exeption of my name is earl there not that good. imagin during animation domination that there was a bunch of 20 year olds chasing around pokemon.
