When will city championship in 2010 will begin? Around Mid-November
Does it cost anything to go? No, Cities are free.
Also, how does the point are earned? Is it each win for a point? How does the system works? Points are earned for each win. The amount of points received depends on the tourney's K-Value.
What is Tier-one, Tier-two? Tiers are how well a deck is doing. Tier 1 usually has the best decks, then Tier 2 are the next best, and so on so forth.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

I think what he means by tier one and tier to is what level the tournament is, not what a tier one deck is. City's are a tier 1 event meaning the penalties applied are lower than those of tier two.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Gliscor, I think he meant tiers in terms of tournaments. Tiered tournaments are how high level the tournaments are. Higher tiered tournaments will often attract more participants and harder competition. Thus, the tournaments will have harsher rulings and better prizes. Tier 1 are cities, prereleases, and battle roads. Tier 2 are States, Regionals, Nationals, and Worlds. I might have mixed them up, but you get the idea.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Zero, you are right on. Two tiers exist in the TCG championship series. Tier 1 is Battle Road and City Championships. Tier 2 is State/Provincial/Territory Championships, Regional Championships, National Championships, and the World Championship. This is mostly essential for penalty assessments.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know of any like weekly tournaments/leagues around/in Banbury, Oxfordshire in the UK?

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

That would be better asked in the local tournaments subforum. Browse that subforum to see. If there isn't a threa for your area, please make a thread asking.~Mark

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

how is top cut determined? (one person said by resistance (which is kinda what I thought), while another said its what round you win in/lose in (a person with round 1 loss and 3-1 is worse off ranking-wise than someone with a round 4 loss and 3-1)) which is it?

Has nats 2011 been announced? (time/place etc)

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

It's basically W/L record, then by Resistance if you're tied with someone else IIRC.

No, Nats 2011 hasn't been announced yet. They announced last years mid-February.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Can you get POP rewards (like the foil energies and stuff) by participating in leagues only?

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

You can, but you won't be getting as many rewards as tournaments will give you. You'll basically just get the energy.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

What is Top Cut?

I heard a lot of people talking about it so...

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Top Cut is the top 25% of players in a tournament that has 8 or more participants. Those players play again in single elimination until there is a winner.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

^Isn't it 33% or is that the old method? I know the percent switched recently... so idk.

Top cut will often refer to the rounds after swiss, where like dragonexpert said, do single elimination until there is a winner. People can also refer to the finals game (winner wins the tournament) when they say "top cut". Top cut games are almost always best two out of three where you need to beat your opponent twice to advance.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

@zero i did nats, states, like..2 cities,3 Different leauges, 6 br's last season..and i still got the smallest player reward..any idea why?

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

It's 25% Zero.

@mlouden:Depends on if your League is being reported on if you are getting credit for it.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Mloudin, did you use different POP numbers and go to league? The "seasons" are set up in such a way that you have to go to league to get high rewards.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

yeah they get new supplies and are also tournament organizers so they are being reported..also im pretty sure they all know my pop # (though I'll dobule check) is there a way to findout online if they have you under different pop #s?

Edit: I know i may have filled out a new # at the third league but then came back with my real # after i asked the Main tourny organizer who looked up my # in his laptop so they all should be up to date

I have a pokemon.com account but didnt sign up with each individual leauge online..is that why?

oh a stupid question XD I filled out the online form for starting my own leauge a week or so ago..will they contact me via email or the pokemon website itself when/if they approve it? (I'm 21, in good standing etc) and is there any reason they would say no given I'm in good standing etc

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

The only way I know of that you can find out if a different ID is being used for you is to email [email protected] and tell them your name and birthday and ask for all IDs associated to that name. If you have more than one id, you will need to contact them anyway to merge your IDs. Each league you go to should be under the same ID. Make sure the league leader knows your ID.

It will be via email. I was emailed when the previous league leader was going to quit and wanted me to take their place. You then have to confirm a couple things and it should be good. I do not have access to information that says what is the absolute minimum for a league to be approved.

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

ok. I just wasn't sure if you heard any specific reasons for denial..like if someone said "oh they said I was denied because.." etc. besides the good standing issue. ironically enough in the form its limited to 500 letters..i had to cut like..1300 letters out (I wrote up like a 3 paragraph thing before noticing the letter limit)

RE: Ask a simple Play! Pokemon question here!

Does anyone know why World Rankings aren't being shown at the moment I'd like to be able to track my progress
