Writing Athena Plays Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword - Final Chapter & Epilogue

Oh, sorry, SM would be user @scattered mind :p If you don't recognize any of the others, just ask. :D

I won't actually kill off the units that I'm not using, but I plan on using them as little as possible (outside of Matthew/Legault for chests/doors as outlined in the OP; Serra will probably get some healing in before Priscilla/Skyleaf shows up, too) to focus EXP gains on those who are permanent team members. Their roles in the plot will be minimized as well, to give more attention to our chosen units.

Oh good, I usually play Fire Emblem the same way. To be honest I already have a team in mind for Fire Emblem: Fates. Including skill sets and a support system :p

Also no problem. SM was the only abbreviation I couldn't figure out, from the comments it was not hard to figure out PP is @Professor Palutena and TGK @thegrovylekid :p

I absolutely hate letting units die. I only have in 2 instances:

1) The very first time I played FE7 I let Erk die on the very last level because I figured it was the end and it didn't matter... but then he didn't get a nice ending like the others, so I swore that would never happen ever again.
2) When I did my Shadow Dragon playthrough, I killed off non-used units because that's the only way to access most of the Gaiden chapters. That has to be one of the most-hated mechanics in all of Fire Emblem. >_<

I don't have a team picked out for Fates yet, but that's mostly out of sheer willpower. :p I'm trying to keep myself from learning too many spoilers so that I can play it relatively fresh when it comes. I do know most of the characters names and what they look like (mostly thanks to Cipher and some prerelease tidbits), but for the most part I don't know what characters' personalities are like and when they join. I always do a Normal playthrough my first time around so I can just derp around and use characters I like and experiment with things. I'll start the planning for the second go-around. Now if only I could decide who to marry for my first playthrough... decisions, decisions...

I get to be a character?? Thanks, @Vom !! :D
I'm going to nominate @Vom for Rath.

The bad news is that you're too late to nominate any of the PCs because that's already done.

The good news is that Vom actually IS Rath, so you can pretend that the vote still counted. :p

Well, the Fire Emblem Wiki is relative save. I did stumble upon a HUGE spoiler sadly. It's a wise decision to wait really.

Oh, oops! :p
Are we allowed to nominate for NPCs? If so, I'd like to nominate @Icarus for Uther.

Yeah yeah, decisions... decisions...

Bad thing is that release dates for pal regions haven't been announced yet. >.< As of now, the wait can be close to 7 months for Europe. Thankfully, US had a release date for February, which is still "late" imo. :/
And what worries me most is the fact that multiple sources from forums, criticized the story heavily. I don't know if it's worth the wait anymore... :/

...

The chapter was fun, as always :) As far as I'm concerned I vote the "romantic supports" between the characters, as well :D

Hmm... can "Athena" (the narrator) support the TGK, or is it the "fake" one you mentioned? If so then "+1" vote from me for the already existing supports :p

Well, of course I'm marrying Joker. :p But because I like the Nohr guys better than the Hoshido guys in general, I plan on saving my sexy, all-path butler for the mode where I don't like the others as much, which makes my Nohr decisions more complicated. I'm debating between Marx, Lazward*, and Zero... and that's just the guys that I know I like already. T_T I'll probably end up picking the one that's the least good mechanically since it's just a Normal/Classic run and I won't have to worry about optimizing anything.

(* - Inigo was my favourite of the kids from FE:A, but I feel really squicky about marrying the kids in that game, so I never would. Now that he's just a regular adult like everyone else and I'm not fighting with his parents, he's fair game. :p)

I'm guessing PAL release will probably be April. That would be the same amount of wait between regions for Awakening too (which also released in February in NA). Hopefully we'll get word sometime in January. At least, that's my hope. If we wait, though, we wait. I'll have Bravely Second to keep me busy in the meantime hopefully. And of course more playthroughs. :p

As far as story critiques go... I've heard the same, but I'm withholding judgment until I can play for myself. There were a lot of critiques about Awakening's story, too, but it's not nearly as bad as you'd think it might be if you read some of the things people say about it without playing for yourself.

Personally, I'm still as hyped as ever. :D

It would be a "fake" Support, yes. Because Athena doesn't actually participate in any battles, she can't actually support any of the characters. What I would probably do is repurpose one of that gent's other Support conversations and tweat it a bit. Mostly it would be a way for their character to still have a bit of time in the spotlight even though he wouldn't have much in the way of "real" supports.

I think I'd like to see this. On another note, my lines made me both want to laugh hysterically and facepalm at the same time. Are my lines really like that?

Oh, and I seem to have an affinity for Green in these playthroughs. go figure.

How long can I keep this up? :p

Sain's lines, if anything, are worse in game than how I've presented him here. :p

We've actually got a really good crop of characters this time around. Of course, there aren't many bad characters in FE7, so we would have had to try hard to make a crappy team, but I think we'll do pretty handily.

so, would making Vom a Swordsmaster be a good idea this time?

Making Vom a Swordmaster is always the best idea. Sadly, there's no reclassing in this game, though he will gain a sword on promotion.

I hereby vote in any FE playthrough Athena does with reclasses that Vom becomes a Swordsmaster. This series needs at least one recurring joke.
