B/W how good is the set?

*quickly checks* :(....its just RH and holo. they are going back to none holo and regular holo being two different cards like in base set. look at base set. holo and non holo are 2 different numbers in the set...it sucks

because troll and toad has already posted up preorder prices, and the holos tend to be quite pricey

Well, those ARE just the pre-order prices. I would be very surprised if the holos stayed at $4 after the set actual came out, depending on how much stock and demand they have of a particular card. Much less the Reshiram and Zekrom super rares staying at $50 each. For all of the tournament legal sets right now, holos on Troll and Toad are really cheap unless they're staple cards in competition. And I haven't seen any indication that holo cards in BW are now more rare than they used to be.

Personally, since around Platinum or RR, I buy a set of the non-holo cards for like $20, and then buy the holos separately. With so few holos in BW, I think it's very possible to get A copy of each card for around $60. Reprint set or not, I got everything in Call of Legends except the SL cards for $60... and that set had nearly 3x the amount of holos that BW does.

Nah, the scans on the main page show two versions of the same card - one is the regular version in the main set, and the second is an exclusive to the pre-made decks. There are two different cards for all of the starters. If you notice, both Emboar cards are 19/114 in the update with the scans, while Pansear is 21/114. 20/114 is a different Emboar that isn't in the pre-made decks.

i thought it was like this

Anyone know where to buy the new B&W theme sets? I went to 2 different Target stores today and they didn't have any.

^Unfortunatly D:

I do like the new set though :), will need quite a few here as im planning on making a Grass/Steel deck with B/W cards only, a bit limited but can add more as more sets are released.

1 more thing...
why is the starter evoulution serperior, emboar etc.
are two copies in the list
are the different or same

Wow, so many of the same questions about the Starter Evolutions...

http://pokebeach.com/scans/japanese/black-white-collection/003-white.jpg

One is 5/114. The other is 6/114. The first one (bad version) is in two copies of the theme deck. This was already confirmed when we were shown pictures of the theme decks when they were announced.

BOTH versions are confirmed in the set. I don't know how much clearer that can get with these constant questions.

dmaster out.

Personally, I think the set's going to be fun to collect. At least the art's not stock! Dx

Cincinno will be epic fun.
Emboar is obvious.
Serperior + Reuniclus, as typed about in this forum.
Zekrom Promo. I think we're getting this as a promo in the tins, right?

At least Catcher, Max Potion/Full Restore's not going to be in the set. That REALLY balances this set.

I don't think I'd get a Booster Box of this set though. The Holos aren't going to be like Japan's B/W Holos for one thing, and that sucks. I was looking forward to a new look on the Holos. Still, I already bought 2 out of 3 Theme Decks so who knows.

what are the starter evolution cards inside the starter deck the one w/ the ability or the one that has not?

Didn't Pokemon announce that there would be 70 Unova Pokemon, and over 40 T/S/S, Energies, Secret Rare's?

It said that over 70 Unova Pokemon were debuting in the set. The set list that WPM posted on the front page has a lot of Pokemon with two different cards: all nine of the Starter stages, Maractus, Darumaka, Alomomola, Blitzle, Zebstrika, Joltik, Timburr, Patrat, Lillipup and Bouffalant. There's 91 regular Pokemon cards, plus the Zekrom and Reshiram super rares.

Not that hard to read what is being posted.

All three starter decks are posted on the PokeBeach Main Page as well (it's a great resource) where you can see that there are two of the first Serperior I linked to in the Grass deck (and so on for Fire/Water).

its really annoying that they are putting the first evo and not the rest. like timburr, patrat, and another one i cant think of. why? there is no point. just save them for another set.

Out of all of the Pokemon with two cards in BW, the only ones that evolve further into Pokemon who only have one card in the set are Darumaka, Joltik, Timburr, Patrat and Lillipup. Lillipup, Joltik and Darumaka have third cards in the Battle Strength Decks that can be used with their evolutions' cards from the same Decks, so I guess TPCi just tossed the pre-evolutions' second cards into this set to get them out of the way.

Timburr having two cards in this set was necessary because Gurdurr and Conkeldurr don't have any other cards out in Japan right now. So they just added the second Timburr card in with them instead of having a random Timburr card in a later set. Ditto for Patrat.

- Speed Zekrom is likely to be popular even without Catcher, 120 (140 with Belt) on Turn 1 is tremendous, especially since one Collector gets your entire Pokémon setup.

- Serperior's Ability is interesting, but I'm feeling will probably be irrelevant with all the OHKOs flying around.

- Emboar has some decent partners for it's Ability, notably Reshiram and Charizard. Reshiram might actually turn out to be better than Zekrom as long as we have Broken Time-Space since its T1 120 doesn't rely on a flippy coming-into-play Power, but it continuously burns energy. Charizard is much slower, and only does 80 without discarding, but 80 for 1 isn't bad. Of course, Gyrados could make all this moot to begin with.

- Cinccino's Do the Wave is cool, potential T1 100 with no flips, no discards, and no recoil. Losing Broken Time-Space will hurt it, however.

- I'm surprised that no one likes the improved Revive. If your main attacker is a basic (Speed Dragons), Revive drops it right back in play.

Pokemon rescue is a better version of rivive.
With Pokemon Rescue you can search your discard pile for ANY pokemon without playing it immendiantly ( So you can use something like set-up)
