Anyone else love this Manga? It's so much more realistic of a series from Shonen Jump.

Also, I noticed people are 1-starring this thread, seriously, it's not Bakugan, cut it out. D:

RE: Bakuman

It's name sounds like the extremely annoying Bakugan. I like almost any Shonen Jump Manga

I know eh? When we get it over here kids will be dissing it allover YouTube calling it fake or a rip-off like New Gen Kids not knowing what the hell Gold and Silver was.

Actually, I've been reading the series it weekly since it first first debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump. It caught my eye from the start.

It's not like most manga out there, so it's a really refreshing change of pace. What I love most is getting to learn about all the things that go on behind the scenes with manga publications. It's very interesting.

Yeah, it's really interesting like that, especially for those like me who want to be comic artists.

I am more interested in Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach, and Naruto. But I only watch RAW Versions, with no subtitles. I can't stand the English forms.

I have been reading Bakuman since it first started.

Its ok I guess. Nice to see Ohba & Obata do something slightly less mainstream that isn't called Death note. Favourite character is probably Mr Hattori (And they took inspiration from Ll to create Eiji I recon).

Actually a majority of the characters are based on what Ohba and Obata have seen while working at Jump, so Eiji was either inspired out of sheer randomness, or they've met a strange comic artist like him. Also, which Hattori? There are 2. Hattori Yuji (Eiji's editor) and Hattori Akira (Ashirogi's old editor) Both of which are also based on real people.

What's it about?

It's about an artist who decides to just give up on his goals of becoming a comic artist when he is in high school. But he meets a writer who found his little sketches of a girl he likes and tries to persuade him to create a comic series with him. Not gonna spoil much but you'll have to read it for yourself. It's essentialy a slice of life, romance, and drama series. With a bit of comedy.

Really? never knew that before. Though with all of the references this seems to have with their previous work (Eiji's comparisons with L, Kaya with Mello), this leads me to believe that Death Note was an excuse for Ohba and Obata to pretend to kill off all of the people who they didn't like or who gave them time constricting deadlines or somethign ridiculous like that.

I mean't Ashirogi's previous editor. Havent learnt enough about Yuji to form an opinion on him.

To add a question of my own, which of the manga presented in Bakuman would you like to see come out as an actual manga?

Crow and Detective Trap.

A Volume 1 of Crow Pin-Up exists though and I hope it gets released over here. XD

Detective trap sounds too much like Detective Conan for my liking, and Crow's art seems off putting.

I quite like Colourfuscical. The art looks very interesting and surreal and could be done well if done by a competant author (Which it seems Koogy isn't)

Crow's art style is the same as the series itself.

Also, why are you talking as if they're a real series? XD

Thats a relief. I was starting to feel sorry for the guy depicted as Hattori Akira...

Actually he does look like that. Only now he has hair extensions so he kinda looks like Jack Sparrow.
