Saxophone is an AMAZING instrument and lots of fun to play 
I played/had lessons for around 8 years and got to grade 6 before I became demotivated and sort of gave up. that and I needed a new sax that had a nicer sound/was just more expensive in general and I'm hellapoor. I'll probably pick it up again one day. I played alto, mainly.
I was in bands at the local music centre [English schools don't really support after school stuff like bands as much, they're pretty half hearted to be honest. But I was part of the crummy one at school too] and once I moved up to the more advanced band I was lumped on BARITONE saxophone, which was huge. Humungous. as big as I was. And it's a lot harder to play than alto. You really have to loosen your mouth when you blow and it requires so much puff. If I ever get back into saxophone I want to get a tenor. It sounds the best. Alto tends to be a bit screechy in the highest octave.
You should keep it up, though. It's really really good fun. and a lot cooler than it seems.
