'Bandit Ring' Booster Pack Features Hoopa Unbound [4/18]

First again, yay!

Seriously though, it's an interesting piece of art. Though I have to say I feel like I'm staring Anima from FFX down.

This set...I, depends on what the cards look like but

I just might collect this based off of the packaging...

You know, thinking about it I have my doubts we'll get Hoopa or Hoopa Unbound in August. I think they'll hold those two cards back until our November set, when the movie is closer to being premiered, which I don't think would happen anytime sooner than October.

In recent times they've held certain cards back to release them closer to the movie, and even though Japan will get the movie in July we won't get it at that point. And look no further for this example than the lack of Zygarde in 7 XY sets, combined with the fact that (aside from Volcanion) Zygarde has yet to even be in a movie. Of course Zygarde itself is another thing all together because of it's suspected role in the third game of gen 6.

In all of the XY sets we have goten cards of all of the pokemon featured on the pack art. Why would it be any different with Hoopa. In XY we had Yveltal, Xerneas, M Blastoise, and M Venesaur. In Flash Fire we had M charizard Y, M Charizard X, Pyroar, and M Kangaskan. In Furious Fist we Had M Herocross, Hawlucha, Tyrantrum, and M Lucario. In Phantom Forces we had M Manectric, M Gengar, Aegislash, and Diancee. In Primal Clash we had P Groudon, P Kyogre, M Gardevoir, M Aggron. All of which had at least one card in their respective sets.

Roaring Skies follows the trend as well with M Rayqueza, M Gallade, M Latios, and Deoxys all featured on the pack art and included in the set.

But we're not talking about English pack art, we're talking about Japanese pack art. When it comes time for localization they could decide to hold off on giving us Hoopa/Unbound so it comes out closer to the movie. That's my point.

They've done it before, like with both Shaymin formes and Giratina altered forme to coincide with the release of Platinum and Giratina and the Sky Warrior. They did with Arceus. They did with Victini. They did with Darkrai. That even goes back to the initial release of Deoxys back in the Deoxys set.

They gave us a form of Diancie but the M. Diancie premium collection didn't come out until after the Cocoon of Destruction premiere on Cartoon Network.

Yeah but Diancie was still in phantom forces. It is very unlikley that Hoopa will not be in the next set. The title of the set is Bandit Ring named with Hoopa in mind. As far as Zyragade goes it will be the star of X2Y2 or Z when ever that game comes out. The cards based off those games will come out shortly after.

We might even get Multiple copies of Hoopa. Hoopa as a rare and Hoopa Unbound as an EX of the card.

Perhaps, perhaps not. We may very well get Hoopa in the set as we got Diancie in Phantom Forces. But they might hold Hoopa Unbound for later on as they did with M. Diancie.

Again though I am not questioning either of them being in the Japanese set, that is clearly a given. It's the English sets that I have my doubts about for the reasons I noted above with other Pokemon like it. Since we have no pack art or information for the English version of we can't be certain of anything.

Regarding Zygarde, it's never been done that way before. Kyurem was released in the third BW set Noble Victories, to say nothing about the promo or the release of the dragon version of Kyurem in Dragon's Vault. That was all before the release of Black and White Kyurem and the release of B2/W2.. Giratina itself was released in the third DP set, as a couple different cards. Then we got entirely new ones for the release of Platinum. These two generations alone are why personally I don't agree with how they seem to be choosing to handle Zygarde. Then again Zygarde could be in this new set, we have yet to see any cards from it after all.

If Hoopa was not in the set then they would have to change the entire set around and give it a different theme completly. They could do that but I really dont think they will. Bandit Ring wont come out untill August in America, so It could very well be about the same time the Hoopa moive is realesed in America as well.

Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction didn't premiere until November. While the Hoopa movie could premiere earlier precedence on the movies releases would indicate it probably won't premiere a month (give or take) after Japan releases it.

Remember that theme isn't always important as far as localization goes. Japan's versions of Primal Clash had a 'theme' around it that was lost upon localization. Not that in all honesty I really think they've ever released Pokémon sets with themes around them, especially compared to other things I've been in. Having between two and six cards in a set that roughly pertain to a movie is hardly what most would call a theme, outside of Pokémon anyway.

At this point you are just arguing for the fun of arguing. Every Pokemon set has a theme. If the sets didnt have a theme they would just throw random cards together willnilly and make the set. Yes there is some randomness to some of the cards that go in sets. The set is themed on cards that are in the set that pokemon thinks will be good and interesting. XY's Theme was to introduce the new series as well as bring in a new pokemon typing. Flash Fire was clearly themed on Charizard and other fire type pokemon. Furious Fist was based on M Lucario and other fighting pokemon. Phantom forces was based on Ghost type pokemon with the most well known ghost pokemon being Gengar. Primal Clash was based on the Clash between the two primal pokemon. Roaring skys will be based on flying type pokemon with Rayqueza leading the charge as one of the most well known flying pokemon. Bandit Ring is the name of the Japanese set not sure what the name will be once released in english but it will be themed on legendary pokemon as well as some sort of badit theme with Hoopa being a new pokemon that fits both themes. There hasnt been a set yet that Zyragade would fit into, and when they release Zyragade as a card it will be one of the front runners of the set that it is released in.

At least we know that we will be guaranteed at least two Hoopa cards in this set. The question is: will Hoopa Unbound be treated like a Mega Pokémon in the TCG, or another Basic Pokémon like Giratina Origin and Shaymin Sky were?

Well, aside from theme issues that are debates for another time, I have my opinion and you have yours. It'll be weeks yet before we know what Japan gets, and months before we know what happens fo localization. As far as I'm concerned we'll have to agree to disagree and wait and see what happens.

I think Hoopa unbound will be treated like Shaymin sky forme and Giratina altered myself, a seperate basic. Black and White Kyurem would also support that.

Either way i honestly dont think it really matters wheather or not a hoopa and/or a hoopa-u card are released in a set before or after the movie.
the point is , is that hoopa and hoopa unbound have already been revealed so they can still base a set around that pokemon before the movie comes out because the set is based more around the pokemon.
Just like them promoting the hoopa movie with hoopa cards lol
they're not going to create a completely different set just because the movie itself has yet to premiere. hoopa unbound has been revealed so there is nothing to hold back for this new set in english.
IMHO it would be stupid to deviate from the Japanese set and create a whole new one just because the movie isnt out in english yet lol and you cant have a set about hoopa without hoopa in it.
also , i hope that just make hoopa unbound an ex and not hoopa. Regular hoopa would just be a waste of an ex spot.

IF it were to happen, they wouldn't create a whole new set. Just take out X number of Hoopa cards and put them in the November set. They have done that in the past, but that doesn't mean it will happen in this instance. Again only time will tell what they will or not do.

If they made Hoopa Unbound following the mega Pokémon rule, they would have no choice to make a Hoopa EX. If on the other hand it was done as a separate basic like Black and White Kyurem were then Hoopa would not have to be an EX. Though let's be honest here, what are the odds they won't make Hoopa an EX.

With the so far exceptions of Suicune, Landorus non-therian, Arceus, Manaphy, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Regirock and Regice all legendaries have become EX Pokémon. And there is still time for that to happen. We've already had two Kyogre, two Groudon, will have three Rayquaza, two Latios, will likely have two Latias and will have at least one more Mewtwo before this era is over.
