If you use gohst head with SW Bannete, if you have an unknown G attached to it, can you put 8 dmg counters on the defending pokemon and take no damage with bannete?

There was an errata on Unown G to make it so you can only prevent effects of attacks excluding damage from only the opponent. So to answer your question, no you can't.

Even if the errata hadn't been issued, preventing the placing of damage counters on Banette would mean you placed 0 damage counters, so you'd place 0 damage counters on the Defending Pokemon.

no, you place damage counters on yourself and your opponent, unown G would have no effect. It only does anything when your opponent is attacking.

right but you don't do it simultaneously, you do it to banette first, then onto the defending pokemon.
So, even if Unown G did prevent the placing of damage counters onto banette (which it doesn't), it would also mean that you placed 0 damage counters onto banette, so you place 0 damage counters onto the defending pokemon.

Guys, the errata is in place, so there is no use at all further debating anything that would be if it wasnt there.
