Pretty cool at least a version of Pokemon games based on America .THIS IS AWESOME

They never stated it was based off of America. Like I stated somewhere, if one takes a closer look, it also resembles China.

american football is spelled footbal, soccer in countries that arent america is spelled futbol

Umh, no. Football is called football in every language I know. It's just literally translated.
Examples:
Voetbal in Dutch. Voet is foot, and bal is ball.
Fußball in German. Fuß is foot.
Fotbal in Czech. You guessed it, fot is foot. Bal is ball.

Futbol is Portuguese if I'm not mistaken.

It's called football in every English speaking country.

I'm in america so too clarify.
American football=Football
futbol= soccer

Ontopic: The character's really look american. (new york FTW)

im so glad its NYC! finally America gets some respect. i bet the national bird pokemon is wargle

Soccer is football and this is just an excuse to start the whole Isshu is based of america discussion nothing more,,sure it kind of looks like an american footballer but i mean why can't it be based of another asian place and have some diversity in the game like putting american characters, face it it wont be america.

Run-on much? How can you say Isshu isn't based off of the US? There has been no official statement confirming or opposing it. I too do not believe it will be based off of US, much less NY, but until anything is said, it is up in the air.

Enough of the soccer football debate. It isn't really leading to anything.

But you are right, this is just another Isshu=US thread.

But no one can deny the coincidences that have occured so far. Wargle, Football player, etc.

I actually wanted it to be based off somewhere in japan. I think they too should have kept old pokes in. The dream world thing doesn't appeal to me.

If you don't approve of it so much, then you don't have to get it. They are trying to bring back a Red/Blue/Green feeling.

Fighting?

Fighting or otherwise very bulky and or fast pokemon.LineBackers in football need both speed and strength to pull the role.So maybe something with bulk and speed.

This very well could be the case, and this thread only adds fuel to the Manhattan theory ^_^ (which, if it was just coincidence, would still be very strange o_O)

Zomg, I'm in B/W? Coolaid. :B

ANYWAYS, I agree on the trainers looking a bit more "Americanized" this time around. The football players is an obvious smack in the face telling you Game Freak is trying to appeal more to their American fans. I find it kind of exciting, really. I love the football players, and I agree on them using Fighting-type Pokemom. The Machop family would fit them the best, but considering there's no previous generation Pokemon in B/W, that's not gonna happen. =/

I think Belle's long skirt is a take off Mennonites and Pentecostals in the US

does that mean shes gonna try 2 preach 2 me the word of God?
Belle is Amish?

I swear all the characters have looked american or european, I think people are just getting excited because the Isshu region 'looks like' America even though I see no resembalence.

P.S. I am British

im american but i dont think isshu is based on manhattan. a regions origin is influenced by the shape but is mostly based on the cities. also this thread is just based on opinions. far away and looks like are not fact and are determined individually.
