As a Gholdengo ex player, seeing this new art literally made my day. The art is sick (I still think the other one is just as cool so I may go 2/2 with the arts).

My biggest takeaway from this though, is that we may get an IR of the new gimmighoul. The new gimmi is so substantially better than the old one that NOT playing—just for the cool IRs—is not worth it, so it made me a little sad there wasn’t an IR of the new ones. Really hope my intuition is correct. Fingers crossed.

Honestly for that deck if you wanna max it out you either go for style points or playability points. Personally I love the connecting art of the old 2

Yeah it’s a bummer VSTAR Universe and VMAX Climax had around 100 SRs. This one is around 50. Ig good for our wallets (kinda, between eeveelutions and these playable af cards I dont have high hopes for them being affordable) but it was nice to see them go nuts for the high end set of the year

That Ogerpon looks like all of the other full art and illustration ones.

Gholdengo is cool, but not as cool as the OG Illustration... no bias obviously =)

Well we don't know for sure that there aren't any AR cards, but I would say it's implied that there could be with the Eevee AR promo we're getting in the ETB
 
I'm assuming this combined with the fact it's a special set the pull rates have to be lower, like maybe an SIR every 30 packs?

Just looking at the numbering between ENG and JP.

187 main set + 12 supporters (ENG press release) + Leafeon + Ogerpon - there's no space for ARs where they would traditionally be.

ENG also removed any mention of illustration rares.

Ah I see, I suppose the Eevee might be a Japanese promo too then, as opposed to a Shiny Treasure ex situation that just had a low amount of AR cards

I don't think you get the point. What will be in a japanese display? 1 SAR, 1 Supporter FA and 1 ASS? In 10 Booster? Come on, man. It's about the feeling during the opening. Most people do not really like the ASS or Supporter FA (I do), so for them it's 1 hit in 10 booster.

I think it's unlikely, Greninja, Kingambit and Kingdra had a common theme and it doesn't seem like the other cards are following that theme. Either they were made exclusively for us or they were pulled from a further set.
 
With the number reveals, there are 18 spots for pokemon SIRs between 201-220. Seven of the 18 belong to eeveelutions (excluding Leafeon and Eevee). If the paradox legendaries all get SIR reprints, an additional 4 of the 18 will get occupied (excluding Iron Leaves and Raging Bolt). That would leave 7 possible spots for Gengar, Scizor, Incineroar, Iron Thorns! Anything is possible!
 
What do you guy think about the pullrate of SAR? Would love to have full 9 evelution, already ordered 40 boxes of this set .
 
I’ve always loved the new SIRs for previously existing cards and this time is no different, it’s my favorite part of the January sets. Great selection this time too, only one I don’t like too much is the Terapagos because the one in Stellar Crown is just better in every way imo. The highlight for me is probably the Ursaluna, much more fitting thematically compared to the other SIR imo

I think they are English/international exclusive. Both Greninja ex and Kingambit were cards that would not have traditionally been reprinted in this year's EOY set. Neither are playable, so there is no reason to reprint them in JP, especially even further into the future.

They might/will probably find their way to other Asian countries like the Charizard VMAX alt in SWSH though.

Kingdra still has a chance I suppose though it's closing.

Scizor can't be in the set because Scyther is not in.
