As far as Gigas vs. Donphan:

It's not simply Gigas vs. Donphan. Gigas will have some support. If you run Gigas, you'll probably play Gigas/Vileplume/Reuniclus. That will let Gigas win.

Not at all. I simply made a comment about Gigas, then glaceon came in and said Donphan OHKOs with Earthquake (because it apparently does 80 damage without weakness, who would have guessed) after Gigas's first attack.

I understand that Donphan is a good counter, but in dire situations, Gigas EX can kill it off. I'm not even implying that Gigas EX is a good counter, because it's not. I'm just saying it can kill a Donphan before the Donphan kills it.

I'm saying that the attack does damage to yourself. You then said that Donphan can't ko Gigas.

Gigas goes first.

Gigas1: attach DCE
Donphan1: Bench Phanpy, attach {F}
Gigas2: Catcher Phanpy, use its first attack, ko (Gigas has 160 HP left)
Donphan2: Evolve into Donphan, attach energy, bench another Pokemon
Gigas 3: Catcher + ko benched Pokemon (Gigas has 140HP left)
Donphan3: DEQ+ PP ko Gigas, even on prizes, and it may be hard to get another Gigas up.

Donphan will also have support in the Dragons, Zoroark, Yanmega, Bouffalant, etc, and can KO Reuniclus.

If Donphan gets {F}{F}{F} on it, then it will be really hard for Gigas to win. If they run Plume/Reuniclus, then it will be a lot slower, and can't rely on the Twins engine if you want Gigas taking early prizes.

Again, you assume that Gigas's only attack is its first. By the third turn (which you gave in your example), Gigas could have accumulated enough energy to use its second attack, which won't put any damage on it. Sure, they can use another PP to finish it, but then they'd be using half of their PP.

Not to mention Gigas can spam Rocky Helmet and Eviolite. Those two (especially Eviolite) can make the Donphan matchup a lot easier.

Alright, there will be 2 Gigas variants. Vile/Reun/Gigas and Gigas+techs (or Gigas/Meganium/Max Potion, so I guess 3). Vile/Reun/Gigas won't run catcher anyway. And, using Reuniclus, you can prevent Gigas from having less than 160 hp at the end of your turn, meaning Donphan needs 3 PP to KO. Good luck with that. Gigas+techs is going to run eviolite, seeker, catcher, switch, and cyrogonal, as well as other techs. Eviolite+Catcher lets you fire off at least 80 damage a turn at no cost, letting you KO basics for a prize often or 2HKO Donphan while taking hits from it.Switch+Seeker lets you heal a Gigas and recharge it in 2 turns with DCE. Catcher+Switch+Cyrogonal=bye bye to that Donphan you have 3 energy on and were about to heavy impact me with. Meganium/Gigas (could actually be viable with Max Potion and Blissey prime) can abuse healing and eviolite to keep Gigas healthy while killing Donphan. Meganium itself is actually viable against Donphan as a later-game finisher (once you get 4 grass onto the field) 2HKOing Donphan while being 3HKOed back and using Max Potion to prevent it from ever falling. Gigas, with the proper support, can handle Donphan with no trouble. The only problem Gigas decks have is Machamp. Keep the field clean of Machamp Prime and Gigas is a seriously good card.

Meganium... it will be hard to get out, and can easily be ko'd by Reshiram, Magnezone, RDL, etc. Also, Donphan can use Max Potion to prevent a ko, and you'll be (hopefully) damaging a Reshiram with Earthquake, so that once you get 5 damage counters on it, it can ko Meganium.

Which Cyroganal are you talking about? The Stage 2 thing? If so, there's a 25% chance of koing Donphan, and even if you get 1 heads, Donphan can switch out of Paralyzation. Cyroganal will also be ko'd as a basic using Catcher, which you have mentioned a lot.

Cryogonal – Water – HP80
Basic Pokemon

[W] Icy Wind: The Defending Pokemon is now Asleep.
[W][C] Ice Ball: 30+ damage. If the opponent’s Acitve Pokemon is a Fighting-type, this attack does an additional 40 damage.

Weakness: Metal (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Oh... Then that could be a problem.

Catcher+ Heavy Impact would ko it, but other wise its a big problem.

I also didn't factor in evolite.

With evolite, you can still ko a Gigas with Heavy Impact + PP.

What would you rather have, though? 3 Donphan that can each deal 60 with one energy, or a single Donphan that can do 90 for 3 energy?

If it being able to take kos on exs, or being able to do 120, but have the damage being moved or healed, I'd pick Donphan with 3 (as long as there are no Crygonal in play). It lets you take 2 prizes easily, and can ko Crygonal if it was just benched, or Reuniclus. It can depend on the situation though.

You are assuming the Gigas player is going to let you set up a Donphan Prime. I know if I'm playing Gigas against Donphan killing any Donphan with energy is my first priority. Seeing as how I can catcher up and KO a Donphan in 2 turns with Gigas, you won't be able to Heavy Impact unless I have an energy drought or something.

get warned for not reading the ruls!!!
