Best pokemon anime battles

I always has a weird relationship with the pokemon animé series. One one hand i think it is pretty cool drawn and has some quite awesome battles.

On the other hand, they spend too much time recueing pokemon that twistet their ancles etc.

And don't get me started on team rocket... they just suck 5-10 minutes out of every episode.

That is why i am looking for someone to recommend some episodes with great battles in them. For instance i saw an episode where ash battles Gary 6 vs. 6 at some leauge. That was just awesome to see. So good gym leader/leauge battles are very welcome. I would love to see more of the series but cannot just watch through each episode when there are so many i don't like.

Hope someone has some good suggestions :)

Orange League final was great. 6v6 battles are always fun.

It's not been seen in American Pokémon yet, but the 3v3 battle against Volkner for Ash's final badge is great. Torterra gets taken out quite easily, but Pikachu and Infernape get a lot of action. It's nice to see abilities in play, and of course, I've stated many times my love for angry fire-monkeys screeching and punching things.

What is the episode with the orange leauge final called?

I remember seeing a battle with a Blaziken against Ash's Charizard. I think it was Master Quest, because Blaziken was an unknown at the time, IIRC.

Basically, Blaziken kicks Charizard in the face, Charizard gets massively ticked off, hilarity ensues. Or something.
 
Ash vs. Gary and Ash vs. Tyson were awesome episodes. They were awesome to watch and one of the best battles I have seen.
 
Man, you guys are bringing up these 6v6 battles and no mention of Charizard vs Magmar? ...Okay, so it wasn't that great, but seeing these two great Fire-types duking it out over a volcano is just exciting.

Ash vs Gary in the Johto league was also a great battle. Man, I wish they played that R/B champion battle remix for just a little longer in that match...

And say what you will about the ending of the movie, but Mewtwo and the clones vs Mew and the original Pokemon in the 1st movie is great. You can tell that they are being a LOT more brutal than previously seen in the anime. Gah, too bad the ending of the movie was bad.

Those are the only couple off the top of my head because I stopped watching the anime around the time of the Hoenn series.
