Best tech against Gyarados...

Luxray GL with Lucario GL, end.

While I feel gecko764 has given you quite the excellent tech against Gyarados, I wish to add a tech of my own into the mix: Mr. Mime MT. That stops Gyarados cold, seeing as they don't play any Water Energy to attack with. In theory, they could load up on Calls, but really, once they do so you have game because you'll be all set up.

Gyarados will just use a Cyclone Energy and will get a KO on whatever you bring up. The thing that would have the highest chance of living is an Absol G Lv.X, but they'll just use a Flash Bite + the 90 Tail Revenge for the KO. So don't say that Mr.Mime will stop Gyarados cold; it'll only make winning a nuisance.

The only problem is, they are probably running Crobat G and warp point, so they can stall by switching gyaradose to the bench and then free retreating him back with Crobat, then repeat untill they have enough energy to KO him.

I think there should be a pokemon that takes cards from your opponents discard pile and shuffles them into their deck! :D that would be Gyara's worst nightmare :p

Luxray is a terrible Gyrados counter.

Yeah, it one-shots Gyarados, that's incredibly terrible. :p

In Advent of Arceus, Wormadam Trash Cloak returns a card from the discard on top of your opponent's deck... that's the closest thing to what you have described.

Gyarados just has to rediscard that one Magikarp (via Lunatone or Flecity's Drawing (which is VERY easy to get out)) and then OHKO the Wormadam. Go ahead and give me free prizes while you try and hopefully stall me until the point I can't discard them as fast. And how much does that attack do? 30 damage? That's a 5HKO. xD

I realize that, I was just responding to the fact that there is a card incredibly close to what he described. I was in no way saying it was a good way to counter Gyarados. Sorry for the confusion.

Play Honchcrow SV lol

They could SSU those Karps and discard them again. Also Honchkrow SV gives your opponent's free prizes and doesn't work well against other decks. The best Gyarados counter in my opinion is Giratina PL, the one that sends KO'ed Pokémon into the lost zone, normally Gyarados doesn't play Unown G, so just hit him for 60, then use some Crobat G and them..Broken-Space Blow so one Magikarp is into the lost zone, maybe another one via Absol G Lv.X's Darkness Send and then Gyarados has a maximum damage output of 30. GG. Mr.Mime isn't that good, they can easily Luxray GL Lv.X, Palkia Lv.X, Warp Point or Regice out of this situation, also while you have Mr.Mime active you can't really attack with your other Pokémon if you don't have anything that can 'hit and run'.

Yeah, if you want a deck that fails to everything else, run Giratina LV. X and Omastar with 4 Warp Point. Warp the Gyarados to the bench, de-evolve it and hit the Magikarp for 30. ;p Do this once and they do a mere 60 damage and do it twice and they do 30.

I want to say probably best tech is dusknoir DP + honchkrow SV

if you are playing against gyarados continuously dark palm and bring out their magikarps

I really like that Giratina idea. I also like how it works with Upper and and it can switch itself out.

It's great suitable for any SP decks, too. Using Bronzong G to charge him up in one turn. But if the Gyarados player has any Unown G..then you may fail, at least against the first Gyarados.
