Let's face it... we've all had some lame jobs. We all wake up and groan when we realize we have to go to work. What are some of your experiences? What were the positives? What were the negatives? Would you recommend someone to work there?
Me?
Movie theatres. Haunted the majority of my life. First job? Regal Cinemas. The ultimate job for sacrificing weekends and freedom to deal with long lines of angry people, serve popcorn and soda and possibly get covered in it. Repetitively offer combos and candies or larger sizes. And then cleaning up their mess when the movie is over. Worst part? Definitely cleaning up. Sometimes people vomit. Sometimes people poop all over the toilet. Sometimes trash juice leaks all over the place when you need to throw it in the dumpster. All this for minimum wage and no holiday pay! Also you're required to work Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday day as those are very busy hours. Positives? You get your hours and sometimes the people and Managers you work with are cool and laid back. Sometimes they're not though.
Retail experience also wasn't any good. While it does offer 1.5 pay on Sunday and Holidays, the hours don't come by that easily. You would have to sell very well and get people to sign up for credit cards to get your hours. It's very repetitive and competitive. It's hard to make money when you're getting paid barely above minimum wage but work like 20 hours a week. Retail is a good part-time second job to reap the benefits of discounts, Holiday pay and stuff. Best Buy is a great place to work as a second job but hours are brutal as they need people to be selling protection plans, credit card apps and reward zone cards. CVS is kind of similar but not as serious about it. Target is probably the best, you get your hours and you don't need to ask about the credit card. However you deal with a lot more dumb people... Another problem is wrong price tags... lots of people complain about that and make you walk around to show you the price... that's annoying.
I don't recommend any of these places to work at but if you need a job, these are kind of easy to get. Best job I've had? Working for Northeast Security. Literally just sat and watched cameras (while secretly playing my 3DS) for 8 hours. Easiest job ever. Till I got caught and fired on the spot.
