In Platinum, I trained all my Pokémon to level 50 before facing the E4.

That's because the pokemon in that game are stronger than the Heartgold and Soulsilver game. You can tell because NONE of the last gym leader's pokemon are above level fourty. Once I come back with quicker and red posts, IE and sonicyellow will not be able to talk.
EDIT: Watch out for Koga's Muk. It will start to stockpile minimzes. Only way I was able to beat it was through paralysis, a few crush claws that lowered it's defenses, and a few faint attacks.
