At least the plan is to turn it into a gallery.

So with working with CMP in Neo Redux, I really started to develop a passion for wanting to make fake cards. Now, if you know me, you'll know that I am a very bad artist. So I asked for some help from CMP, and he walked me through everything, from all the fonts, to the sizes, and where to place them. Everything I know I learned from him. Thanks a bunch man! ^_^

These aren't perfect yet, as I'm still learning how to do some fakes. But its something I'm really starting to enjoy doing. I hope you guys like them, and (more importantly) give me some comments on how to improve.

So, here's my first card: Starmie
I kinda went a little crazy with the bold. But hey, its a learning experience kind of thing.

As I'm also a new faker, I can understand your passion. I noticed you used a Staryu sprite as evolution icon. I caught myself doing this sometimes, as icons can be hard to find. I guess CMP posted a sheet in the resources thread, wich contained icons up to third gen. Of course, if was your personal will to use sprites, please, ignore this :D

Hooray! Someone thats in the same boat that I'm in. ^_^
The sprite was my attempt to make these seem like my cards, as in something that makes them unique. I really like how they turned out too, even if it was a bit of work to make it transparent.

I've also been trying to get into faking and I've started, but I've really struggled with texts. I asked Gliscor for help, and he's seen my request, but he seems to have ignored it, so I will contact CMP and try and join the faking community!

VERY LATE EDIT: Ok, so Gliscor missed the request, and it's all sorted now. :D But I'm confident in both the faking pro mods for help, so I can count on them for assistance!

We went over some of the errors on Skype already, but for a first time not bad! Remember that "Energy" is always capitalized.

Can't wait for you next card, Bipp!

I think he's been really busy tbh Vort, you can ask CMP or myself, or even one of the others, glad to help if we can :)

Thanks everyone. :] Glad to see some more people wanting to step into the faking community.

Updated with Rufflet. When I tried to copy the HP from CMP's font sheet, it appeared as transparent on my card. So I had to type it in myself.

Not too sure if the resistance symbol is Rock or Ground. Just pretend its ground. ^.^

LoL, I believe it's rock, but hey, that was a huge improvement! I have no experience with Neo style faking, but your Rufflet seems okay(andcute). I think you should just place all text a few pixels below. Other than that, it's great !

If it helps :
  • The HP bit should be a tiny bit above the "basic/stage 1 etc pokemon" bit.
  • the attack bit, icon, attack name/desc. + attack damage should be centered/equidistant from the top etc
  • weight etc bit smaller + centered in that small yellow bar bit.
  • Same as above for centering the pokedex bit.
If you think about it, really its just placements and maybe changing the font type to Gill Sans and your pretty much sorted , love it :D

Is it just me, or no one mentioned the lack of a period at the end of the Rufflet's attack effect?

Ignoring that, this is a nice beginning you have going on here. Hope you continue and get better as you keep going. ;3

In addition to what asche pointed out, here are a few more things to consider...

  • The left edge of the card name should be relatively lined up with the outer part of the image border and about ~4-5 pixels above the top of the image border. As for the HP, it should be right on top of the bar that says "Basic Pokémon."
  • Attack effect should be Gill Sans (Regular) -- as should attack damage.
  • The right edge of the '0' in '20' should be two pixels in from the 't' in Retreat Cost.
  • The attack as a whole (name of attack and effect) should be centered from the bottom of the height/weight bar to the black bar above W/R/RC.
  • You're missing the -30 for the resistance (should be Gill Sans Condensed Bold, size 15.5).
  • Pokédex data (the flavor text) should be moved down a few pixels (the bottom of the second line should be about 5 pixels up from the bottom bar).
  • The 'Illus.' text should be line up with the copyright info.

All in all, a solid card. Keeping the above things in mind, I know you can become a great faker, Bipp!

There's a few things wrong here and there, but overall you're doing very good! I've just started faking myself. It's really fun! :3

I know. I saw the picture, and I knew I had to use it.
I didn't actually make the logo; [member]CMP[/member] did. But I'm glad you like them.

Yanma's your best yet. It just looks much cleaner. Although I think the info right below the picture is like a half size too big. But overall very nice work :)

Haha, the funny thing is that I had to make it smaller because it didn't want to fit in the box (Instead of size 15, I had to make it size 14)

Awesome, Bipp! Just a few things...

  • The left edge of the card name on Basic Pokémon should line up with the outer edge of the left image border. It should also be around 4 or so pixels above the border.
  • HP should be right above the stage bar and 3 pixels to the left of the Energy icon.
  • With single Energy attack costs, the left edge of the symbol should line up about 1 pixel in from the 'W' in 'Weakness.'
  • Attack cost should be Gill Sans Regular (not bold). The right edge of the 0 should line up two pixels to the right of the 't' in 'Retreat Cost.'
  • Weakness and resistance symbols should be about centered to the word, and the '-30' needs to be outside of the Energy swoosh.
  • The bottom of the Pokédex text should be 5 pixels above the bottom border. The 'dex info should also be about 11 pixels to the right of the left border.
  • There should be 4 spaces in between the end of the 'dex entry and the 'LV.," and another 4 spaces to the number.
  • The "Illus" text should be on the same line as the copyright info and should start about 4 pixels in from the yellow border.

I don't mean to sound critical, of course. I'm just trying to get you to be the best faker you can be! I'm just more familiar with my own blanks than others is all. :p

Maybe I need to make a font guide...

This is definitely your best yet, Bipp...I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
