BW/BW2 Black: Scramble Challenge (win)

RE: Black: Scramble Challenge

My Servine just learned Leaf Blade, so it's slightly less worthless now. Too bad Servine will have a black mark on it as long as I know Tackle (and by the looks of his learnset, it's gonna stay that way forever).

... <_< *flies to Castelia*

So anyway, I just spent like 40 minutes trying to find a male Rivalry Axew now that I have Surf. Serebii says that the gender chance is 50/50, but I'm pretty sure he lied; I ran into about a dozen females (most of which had Mold Breaker, incidentally) and only a handful of males. All I wanted was a nature that wasn't debilitating, so I got rid of the first one I caught (Quiet). The next two had Mold Breaker and I caught them just to see their natures (Lax and Hasty). Finally I get another male Rivalry Axew and it's Bold (gal;khgsr;alidhgosf;ajee).

Then, in a stroke of Palpi-luck, I got an Adamant one. Hooray!

Gale has been doing a bit to redeem himself since learning Coil. Grass and Normal provide _okay_ coverage, and now that he's learned Return, he can actually 2hko things! Way to go, Gale! You're still a homosexual, but at least you're a decently strong homosexual now.

I have not been using Roxanne much lately because I am confident she can hold her own with Stockpile, Acid Spray, and Sluge Bomb. Given that the only Steel-type I'll ever see again is N's Klinklang, I am pretty sure I can go without a coverage move. I'm a bit torn about whether to keep Toxic Spikes or replace it with Toxic.

Swoobat is an incredible Pokemon for an in-game team. It provides great defense with Unaware and amazing offense even without Simple. Definitely one of my best members.

Despite looking goofy, Palpitoad is pretty legit. I had some fun with Muddy Water, a move I missed since my days of playing DPP doubles. He is the only reason I was able to get past Clay (because Servine sucks before level 32, and Swoobat is weak to Rock).

So here's the plan for the rest of the game:
- Get Colonel up to ~L40
- Wipe out southern Unova, may train Colonel here but not sure
- Twist Mountain
- Icirrus Gym
- Pick up Mienfoo, give it a name, and train it until it is on par with my team (looking to be between 45-50 by this point)
- ...
- Beat the game

Everything between Dragonspiral Tower and the end credits are kinda hazy to me, I'm sure it'll come to me as I start doing them.

da team

Colonel (Axew) L31
Roxanne (Trubbish) L38
Chariblaze (Palpitoad) L40
Rouge (Swoobat) L41
Gale (Servine) L41

Servine is the absolute worst, most disappointing Pokemon I have ever had the misfortune of using. Everything about him is annoying and sucky and now I remember why in all the games I played I have never used this disgrace of a Pokemon on any team.

Ironically I used a Seperior in my Nuzlocke playthrough of Black and he was one of my biggest assets on my team. Sure he gets some better stats over Servine, but teaching him Dragon Tail gave some really nice type coverage for me. Coil+Giga Drain made the negative priority a non-issue. It was definitely a challenge because I still think it's the worst Starter in-game to go through with, but was pleasantly surprised he actually didn't suck that much.

I used Serperior on my first play through of Black, and I didnt think it was too bad. It knew Leaf Blade, Coil, Leaf Tornado and something else but I forgot what it was.

You guys seem to be forgetting that I'm restricted to Servine, so I couldn't evolve into Serperior even if I wanted to. Because of this, I lose out on:

- Dragon Tail (not a big deal)
- Strength (kind of a big deal because I had to wait until I caught Axew to use it)
- Better stats (including +15 Attack and +30 Speed that he so desperately needs)
- A better cry (Servine is seriously the most flamboyant-sounding Pokemon in the history of the game)
- being a Stage 2 (With first gen excepted, all starter stage 1 forms are lame, and Servine is the worst of them all)

While I dislike the design of Snivy's line in general, I have the greatest disdain for Servine. He's just... stupid.

On a related note I stomped Brycen and got Mienfoo, literally after like 50 tries. The first one I ran into was Lonely (I'll take it) and female. I'll let you make your own jokes but I'm open to cool nicknames. Don't have my DS on me so I dunno team levels off hand but everyone but Mienfoo (natch) is like L45-46.

Nickname it Amt.

There, I made my own joke and gave you a nickname.

Grovyle. PMD2. Be there.

Anyway I agree wholeheartedly that the Servine line's capability compared to any other starter is analogous to Frieza's power level compared to Bulma's power level. For those of you who don't get DBZ references, that's really really bad. If I actually played my BW games anymore I'd probably open it up, see level 100 Serperior, and release it instantaneously.

RE: Black: Scramble Challenge

Yeah, Serperior was also the first Unova starter I used... It's okay... I like its design but its movepool is really bad... It's decently strong though, specially with Coil. Although after E4, I noticed it pales in power compared to most fully evolved pokémon... Mine didn't have a very good nature though...

RE: Black: Scramble Challenge

I didn't forget you had Servine (in fact I mention that Serperior gets better stats over it). I did overlook Dragon Tail and Strength not being on Servine and that is a blow..for some reason I thought he could learn both actually. Not liking him for the cry and design has nothing to do with his usefulness though. That's just being unneccesarily cruel.

RE: Black: Scramble Challenge

All right

On the last episode of Dragon Ball Z, I caught Mienfoo (named her Amt) and did some of that hardcore training.

I kinda slacked on training Colonel since I figured with the level advantage and Rivalry, he would be OHKOing everyone in Drayden's Gym.

nope.avi

First trainer's Fraxure wipes him out before he can blink. Well great. With some strategic switching and sacrificing, I still manage to get Colonel strong enough to take Drayden on himself. I start to Dragon Dance like a tard and his Fraxure does it with me, and then I get OHKOed by Dragon Tail, a-whoops.

So now I'm looking at a +3/3 Fraxure and things aren't looking good. Just kidding, Rouge and her awesome ability saves the day :D Fraxure gets wiped out and I sac Rouge to uh, whoever was next, like Druddigon or something so Colonel can get in clean. Both he and Haxorus use Dragon Tail and Colonel's Dragon Claw OHKOes them both. badge get

Right, so route 10 and victory road was okay, I started getting a bit disappointed in Chariblaze but he got it together.

I am in the middle of battling the Elite Four right now. With a pocketful of Hyper Potions and a fistful of Revives, I should have this game bagged. I haven't even used my Rare Candies yet.

da team

Colonel (Axew) L51
Amt (Mienshao) L51
Roxanne (Trubbish) L51
Gale (Servine) L51
Chariblaze (Palpitoad) L53
Rouge (Swoobat) L53

well, I won

The first time I fought Caitlin she kinda put it to me, but I just took the loss and tried again, this time going after her first. Everyone else was no problem.

As expected, Ghetsis's Hydreigon posed no problem. He did outspeed Amt but she lived the Dragon Pulse and Hi Jump Kick landed for the OHKO.

The winning team

Roxanne (Trubbish) L53 - Naive/Sticky Hold - Toxic, Acid Spray, Stockpile, Sludge Bomb
Gale (Servine) L53 - Relaxed/Overgrow - Leaf Blade, Coil, Return, Leech Seed
Colonel (Axew) L54 - Adamant/Rivalry - Dragon Dance, Strength, Dragon Claw, X-Scissor
Rouge (Swoobat) L54 - Naughty/Unaware - Psychic, Fly, Air Slash, Charge Beam
Chariblaze (Palpitoad) L55 - Modest/Hydration - Mud Shot, Aqua Ring, Hyper Voice, Surf
Amt (Mienshao) L57 - Lonely/Regenerator - Rock Tomb, Bounce, Hi Jump Kick, Drain Punch

Everyone did their part in the final battles and that's really all I could ask for. All in all this challenge was fairly fun, but still pretty easy. I'm not even gonna bother with the postgame because I want to try another scramble challenge, but make it more difficult. I'm not sure how I'll do that, but I'll let you guys know.

GO AMT!!
Congratulations PMJ.
I'm suprised at how powerful your pokemon are.
My friend can't get past elite four with His serperior +team.
But, Axew KOing Fraxure and Haxorus?
O_O

The only reason he killed them both is thanks to Rivalry's bonus and Dragon Tail's negative priority, allowing Colonel to go first and nom their souls.

The Elite Four was pretty easy, all things considered.

Roxanne took down Marshal all on her own. Thanks to Toxic, Stockpile, and the occasional Hyper Potion when things got hairy, there was no beating her.

I had to resist using Amt to just wipe out Grimsley, since all of his Pokemon are weak to Fighting (Bisharp, doubly so). Krookodile is weak to Grass, so I had Gale take him on.

The only problematic Pokemon of Shauntal's is Chandelure. Her Fire Blast is brutal. I think I used a combination of Pokemon to bring her down...

As I mentioned before, Caitlin beat me the first time because she has such a wide variety of attacks on her Pokemon, and on all her four Pokemon she only has two moves that aren't offensive (Musharna's Reflect [ffffuuuuu] and Gothitelle's Calm Mind). The second time around it took a bit of sacrifice and smart attacking in order to bait her Full Restore usage. Zweilous does a pretty good job of countering Caitlin as long as you can dodge Reuniclus's Focus Blast. Do that and you pretty much have the match won.

Plus I had a ton of Revives in case things went wrong. Those helped, too.

Wow, congrats! My Birthday is pretty soon, and I think I'm getting a copy of Pokemon Black. If I get it, I plan to do my own Scramble Challenge, inspired by this.
