Blk/Wht Poison Blanks

I've decided to use the Black and White blanks made by Aschefield101 for the moment. They're very nice looking, but he didn't create blanks of types not included in the TCG. I wanted poison blanks, so I decided to make those myself (using the symbol from CMP's blanks). Here's my first effort (other stages to follow):

 
Looks nice, although a recolor of the Psychic blank isn't very good. Also, when it comes to the stuff like where the flavor text goes, the PokeDex entry, etc. try making the cut cleaner. If you look on the edges, the cut is very choppy.

Both good points, Hope. Thanks for the input.

How do you make the cut cleaner? I spent a long time trying to get it right, but ended up having to go through pixel by pixel (and you noticed the result). I did try to clean it up a little via blurring, but I'd much prefer a cleaner method.

As to the psychic recolor, I actually thought that looked pretty decent. What do you recommend as an alternative?

Maybe "look" was the wrong word, since the blank looks great! What I was trying to say is that the blank doesn't look very original.
 
I think what Hope is suggesting is to try making your own texture instead of just simple recolors.
 
Ah, got it.

Well, on both counts I'm anxious to be pointed in the right direction. How does one go about making textures? (I've used photoshop a bit, but my skills aren't very advanced. I'm not sure how to begin such a thing.)
 
The blank is very nice, but it does look a bit choppy & unoriginal but it looks a lot better then some of the blanks I've seen! Hope you make more
 
Trying to learn from your comments, here's my attempt at a more original texture for poison blanks:

I'm still working on the cleanest way to add back the other things that belong on the bottom of the card. In the meantime, please let me know if you think the texture here is an improvement. My idea was to make it look like it had a chemical sheen to it.

(I've also modified the border. I plan to alter the borders on a whole set of B/W blanks. I haven't quite decided what I want yet, but I know I want it closer to cobalt than to yellow, so this is a start.)
 
Additionally to what we've spoke of in replies; remember that you did need my permission to do this in the first place :) (blank read me's + the resource site state them under "legal" etc)

However, you've been pretty up front otherwise about it thus far (excluding the initial asking part) :)
 
Oh, yes, very sorry for the oversight, Aschefield101!

Would it be alright if I augment your B/W blanks to make my fakes with? As you can probably tell already, I don't intend to make very major alterations, and your name will remain on the cards. (If you want it there, that is. Once I'm done fooling around with the borders I'll re-add your credit to them.)
 
Yeah yeah its fine gard :)

I'd keep my copyright off those though, as tehcnically they aren't entirely my work (after your changes etc) But a link to me everynow and again would be appreciated (on deviantart maybe, or here)

Tis nice to get more people onto the resource site for example :)
