Oh yeah, rubberbands. They are too bad. They get thicker though, and that is when they start to suck. Don't worry about sounding funny, they don't mess up your speech if i remember right

Ugh. Appointment is tomorrow. JOYFUL.

I had braces when I was 11, it was the most humiliating and painrful experience of my liiiife [At that point, haha] I couldn't eat anything for over a week because they were so painful, got awful tension headaches and when the initial achey pain went away the stray wires and rough ends my orthodontist had left around my brackets cut into my gums and caused lesions and ulcers on my mouth. Not cool.

they were on for like, 2 years and my teeth still weren't straight.

Now my wisdom teeth are forcing their way into my mouth and getting all impacted and stuff. I can't open my mouth properly because my jaw is all janky -___- fmlllllll

I think some people over exaggerate, because when I got mine a few months ago they hardly hurt. But they are really annoying, especially after tightening them. I was study at Nationals not being to eat anything. Oh the horror... ._.

Braces are totally worth it. Get the clear ones if you can. I got the metal ones and wish I got the clear ones. Your teeth will be perfectly strait once they are off. Just be careful when you get a retainer once they are off. Those things are clear and easy to misplace. My friend put hers on a napkin on accidentaly threw it away and remembered during another class.

LOL ive had braces and its nearly been what? a year and a half. Braces dont hurt! :) they do a little after you tighten them but other than that they dont hurt.

My only thing is that i hate how i cant eat gun, taffy, or carmel!!:(

i busted my tooth the other day and my braces kept it from flying out of my mouth. :p

I've had braces since December of last year. They REALLY hurt my month when I first got them, but I'm gotten used to having braces. :D
The only thing I hate is that I can't eat any sticky candy... :(

Gahhh! My appointment Tuesday was no fun. Apparently one of my brackets came off, so they had to put a new one on :(

I have no clue why that happened. Does anyone know why that might have happened?

Meh, oh well. At least I don't have to deal with rubber bands yet :D

It probably happened because of something you ate. Sometimes, the force of the chew triggers the glue on the bracket to become loose and seperated, thus seperating the bracket from your mouth.

I'm absouletly tired of my braces, not because they hurt or I can't eat specific food (I do anyways?) but because when you have them, you get this look of having a bulge in your mouth ;_; That, and my smile is demented, but I'm getting them off September 28 in which I shall rejoice

My worst experience of the braces are before them when I had spacers, when I first got them on, rubber bands, and when they put a power chain on the top brace. Tightening didn't bother me at all.

lol@ the last choice in the poll. Ah, the lovely ignorant people of Pokebeach.

That's what I was thinking. Ugh. I was eating pizza the night before (the crust was tough). >_< Eh, well. Lesson learned.

Yup, I lost mine eating pizza, too.

braces hurt like a biznitch for the first week i had 'em and they hurt like a biznitch for a day when i get them adjusted, but i dont see what the big deal is. i can chew gum with braces and not have a problem(doing it right now)
i got rubber bands a little while ago and now my upper lip looks a little bit weird

I got my braces off about a week ago, so now I have to wear a retainer for the next month. They're not too bad, although I did miss being able to eat Tootsie Rolls. :3 Sadly, people are worried about wearing the retainer and looking stupid, and then they need a second set of braces. It's rather pathetic. Anyway, my braces made my teeth sore for the first week or so, I had a strict diet of marshmallows, mashed potatoes, and pudding :]

I'm leaving this open for further discussion of braces.

I may be getting them soon, hopefully my parents will allow me to get the invisible kind, Not that I show my teeth when I smile anyways :p

@Juliacoolo Yeah my friend has those type of braces, you cant even tell he has them on and they make his teeth look a lot more white and shiny. I think they look a bit like mouth guards but I cant remember...

i dont get whats up with people not being able to eat toostsie rolls or chew gum? i did both all the time back when i had my braces

It's more of that it can damage the braces than anything, Typlosion. The gum can obviously get stuck in the wires and pull off a bracket, and the tootsie rolls are chewy and can break them. I suppose you can do that, but it's not a good idea.

i got mine off in the middle of fourth grade lol.

They diddn't really hurt though. The no gum or popcorn rule was anoying though. But, if you need one, WEAR THE REUTANER. I diddn't wear mine ,so now, whenever i put it on. it REALLY hurts so im forced to either get used to it, or just take it out. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!!!

I got my braces on the first week of June and for the first 4 days it hurt bad! But for the next two months it was great, until my dentist made me where the rubber bands! Hopefully the dentist doesn't make where any thing else.
