Brand new booster box: Bent cards...

Just bought a brand new sealed HGSS booster box. The box is in NM condition and so was the plastic seal.

I've just opened several packs and ALL the RH's and holo's are bent!!

Here's a quick pic of a holo Azumarill I just took;

I've probably opened about 10 boosters boxes within the past 2 weeks and other than the odd few cards being like this, there normally straight.

Why are they bent like this? I bought them from a private seller (owns a eBay Pokemon shop) I've opened several packs, and all Holo's and RH's are just like the one in the picture, I'm not wanting to open anymore, infact I don't even want the booster box now which I just bought.

Should the seller offer a refund or is this a fault by whoever it is makes the cards?

Really annoyed about this :(

The picture you took is not popping up....

I haven't really had nay issues like this when it comes to damaged cards, but I have heard a lot of complaints about this recently.
I'm not sure what the best approach to this problem is, but hopefully someone here can help you. =)

I think the picture is working now.

If not, let me know and I'll try again.

ive noticed this with alot of the new holos. i had reshirams where the curve was quarter inch off the ground. it is quite annoying but i think its just the foil they put in curves te cards. it not bent is just curved

Yeah, I agree, curved is a more accurate way to describe than bent, but I'm still far from happy :(

I collect the cards and only like to have NM/M cards (at least in my eyes). A curve like that just makes them worthless to me.

Curves can be undone, though. Just put the cards under large books and wait 48 hours and it should be fine. If you keep it in a tight, compact binder like a monster binder, the curve will be undone in the same amount of time, if not quicker.

I've put them in ultra pro soft sleeves and ultra pro top loaders for now, will that straighten them out?

I've just bought 2 x ultra pro premium binders (waiting for delivery) would they also straighten them out?

Thanks.

yea. curves dont really have any effect on "mintness" as they are a natural occurance due to the foil like the above posts mentioned.

the premium ultra pro binders should do the job. just put them into sleeves and lay them into the binder. they still will have a natural tendency to curve. however, when its in the binder, itll stay flat.

curvature/warping also depends on the temperature and humidity. i notice that if i leave my cards out in the open air when its like <70 degrees, then warp ALOT in just a few days.

The reason why the cards are bent can't be helped, but can be unbent as DarkPkmnTrainer pointed out. Holo/RH cards get bent due to humidity, but that's all I know about it. There's really nothing that TPCi can do about the situation because of the holosheet being used.

So for a refund, I wouldn't do it simply because it can't be helped.

Yeah, listen to the people above about the condition of the cards. Anyone buying from you wouldn't consider a curve a resason to drop the price. And by the time you possibly trade/sell these the curve will be gone. One thing I find that helps after you have left them under a nice heavy book (while in a sleeve lol) and they straighten out, Leave them in some ultra pro sleeves when you put them into your folder sleeves. I find with my bent holo's this helps to stop them bending again

my reshirams never got unbent. i got them 2 weeks ago and they have been in the bak of my binder flattening and they stayed curved -_-

Thanks all for the advice, made me feel better.

For now, I've put them into ultra pro soft sleeves and then into ultra pro top loaders. Once the ultra pro premium binders get here, I'll put them into the binder (but keep them in the soft sleeves also).

So far, opened 16 of the 36 HGSS packs, pulled 3 primes, 6 rare holos and 1 half card, not too bad :)

Many of my 1st edition Neo Genesis holos had curved too. I recently found out about perfect fit sleeves (yay!) and I have transferred all of them into those and an ultra pro deck sleeve, then back into the binder. The perfect fit sleeve is so tight on the cards that they are now flat!! (Most anyway...) You could give that a try as well. =]

And if you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by a half card?

I noticed most of the curved cards I have been getting recently are all from the BW set. stuck them in sleeves underneath a heavy book and the curves dissappear

Yeah, by half card I mean the legend ones, where you get top+bottom and join together.

I think I'll try the book trick, should the holos be face up or face down, I assume face up but best to check first (they will of course be in soft sleeves).

I got a Regigigas DP40 Jumbo Promo WAAAAY bent out of shape. The curves were like 1- 1 1/2" off the table it was on. Still sitting in a huge dictionary right now.

Ended up opening the whole box of 36 packs.

Got 7 primes, one of each, plus an extra Donphan. Seemed too easy to get primes or was I lucky?

Also got 11 out of the 13 rare holos and 2 out of 4 half cards.

I didn't get the red Gyarados which I probably wanted the most.

yea. boxes are pre-set.
the ratios for boxes are
holos: 1:3 packs
primes: 1:6 packs
Legends: 1:12 packs

so yea. guess ur lucky for getting 7 primes and an extra donphan for that matter.
usually boxes average 6 primes and 3 legends. so you just got another prime instead of a legend
