I have decided to write a fanfic. I got the inspiration from the anime and other stories on the beach and I hope you enjoy it.
Chapter one: Splitting the tournament wide open
"Tentacrual, do your thing",
"Go Exeggcutor",
The two battlers stood tall with their Pokémon waiting for the clock to start. This match wasn't an ordinary match, this match wasn’t a matter of life or death; it was much more than that. Tentacruel layed parched on the sandy field not seeming too confident whilst Exeggcutor was ready, you could see a glint in his shining eyes that said, I must win.
“Ok guys, it’s a 3 minute match and you both have 3 Pokémon to change in and out, the winner will be the one who either defeats there whole opponents team or clocks up the most damage in the given time. 3... 2... 1...”
Gong! The time had started and Exeggcutor had already started an assault on his opponent, darting across the dusty area that swept up behind him. As it approached Tentacruel it began to fire seeds out of its leafy climate.
“And Exeggcutor is leeching the opponent Pink must be really pleased with how his Pokémon is setting up the game here , what effects could this have later in the game?”
At the same time Grey and his Tentacruel have a plan of their own, already shooting 2 layers of toxic spikes onto the other side of the stage which was now a minefield of poison for any opposing switch.
“What has just happened? Exeggcutor is down on the floor in pain, its supposed to be Tentacruel who’s seeded, I think we’re going to have to bring in an expert to explain this. Professor. Oak if you may”
“Precisely, what has just happened is normal when battling any Tentacruel due to its ability which stops opposing Pokémon from draining its health by inflicting it on them, I see no way how Exeggcutor can continue like this, it needs to start to attack before its damage counter disintegrates within the 2 minutes left”
With a lack of time left Exeggcutor jumps toward Tentacruel who stretches a long reaching tentacle toward the slower opponent who is now wrapped up in Tentacruel’s feeler. As the damage clock continues to strike down Pink decides to take a risk by not switching his Pokémon out.
“Bullet Seed, come on Exeggcutor this is the most important match of my life”
Exeggcutor gritted its teeth and Charged up a massive blast of bullets. Suddenly Tentacruel span out toward the left avoiding the attack which fizzled out into the air.
“Wow that is a moment of genius by Grey using his rapid spin attack to...”
Before the commentator could finish Tentacruel came back into close range and blasted the opponent with an explosion of sludge and ended Exeggcutor’s time on the now heated battlefield.
The clock hit 1 minute to go, this match was ending soon and Pink had no damage on the board, just a huge migraine which clouded his judgement of the next choice. He stared down at the Poke balls in his hand and thought ... Once the clock was now down to 50 seconds he throughout a poke ball, crossing his fingers in desperation. It was a Pupitar which due to typing was in for a long painful bashing. Grey showed a smug look, he knew exactly what to do.
“Tentacruel, set up rain,” he shouted with confidence as Pink shuddered.
It didn’t rain it poured flooding the stadium bringing Tentacruel into the comfort zone ahead of its already poisoned opponent, Tentacruel blasted a wave of water toward Pupitar (the outcome was inevitable... or was it...)
CRASH! The stadium shook as the water rumbled around and the Pokémon both layed on the surface. Pupitar had just used earthquake splitting through the ground and his opponent. It hit hard but he still couldn’t withstand the hydro pump of Tentacruel.
Dong! The game had ended and Pink had been beaten badly in an awfully one sided battle. What Pink had just lost was the semi-final of the famous ‘High Force Kanto Championships’, a dream of all trainers to win or even get to the final of which took place in the Viridian stadium were over 100,000 eager Pokémon fans who would queue for days just to watch one of the match-ups between the lucky 128 competitors who qualified for it. Pink fell to his knees, a tear dropped from his eyes and a rapid tempo was beat by his half heart. He took off his Black and white cap, put it down and then layed onto the ground in a flood of tears.
On the other side of the pitch, Grey left the field to go to the channel 6 interview that the press of Poketopia had ordered to be streamed live onto TV. As he left, he handed over his Pokémon to a waiting Chancey who would heal them while he spoke to the reporter. He slid across the black leather seats next to Pink who had just arrived to in an angry feud still with eyes ringed of sympathy for himself. Also at the table were the followin: the two other trainers who would battle for the next place in the final. One of which was a little girl about 6 who had no experience but a heart of gold and nerve of steel which had seen her past many former champions and gym leaders to get here. The other was extremely mysterious. He wore a mask covered in glinting platinum and covered up all other parts of his body with an elegant cloak which made him seem even creepier than he already was. He spoke but in a soft smug tone that intimidated the already scared opponents. His road to the semi- finals was much harder consisting of beating the Johto premier league champion Neb and the icicle cave masters champion Eke in style. He was a clear favourite to win with his pedigree of being the PAOK (Pokémon Association of Kanto) cup champion and recently, 2 years ago, winning the Champions cup where the best players from all four regions would battle in a royal rumble for the title of ‘The Ownage... The best’. Despite being a great champion, he was quite, very quiet which created even more mystery around his success.
Also at the other end of the table was a young girl with a clip board and a microphone for her guests to speak into. As you can tell she was the reporter and she had been for the duration of the tournament which meant that she had gathered much more knowledge on Pokémon and was able to ask questions without the aid of a script which she had used in previous interviews which angered Pink especially when she called him and asked him on his opinion of the weather.
Walking over to the table were 2 other very different looking people followed by a crowd of fans who had come to see the interview and get on TV. The interviewer then said in her soft tone
“Welcome, Eke and Professor. Oak, please take a seat so that we can discuss the recent happenings”
They both sat down at either end of the table eager to get started. The interviewer slowly turned her head toward each end and then directed her focus toward the centre of the table where grey sat. She started by saying
“Welcome, this is Poketopia live at the High Force championships at Viridian Stadium. In the last hour grey eased past pink to move forward to the finals were he will play either Kid Jess or The Metal Mysterio to qualify for the Champions tournament in Hoenn . So Grey would you say you are now peaking at the right time?”
“I’d definitely say I’m peaking but that doesn’t mean to say that the others arn’t so I guess it means nothing if I don’t give it everything I can”
The interviewer then pivoted toward the other two possible finalists and asked
“Does Greys performance in the last match add pressure onto you 2 thinking about the future?”
Then the mysterious man answered with no hesitation and almost whispered
“I feel no pressure, I see no opposition and I’m playing to get the opportunity to battle him. Therefore I should not be scared of what so far is a fantasy. Our battle will come and when it does I can assure you he’ll be the one quaking in his boots”
“Eke that was a pretty strong set of words from a man who is still having to beat one of the young battlers of the year, having lost to him ,would you say he does have the kind of ability to said outrageous statements like this”
Eke thought for a while and finally said “This guys a worthy champion but they all our, they all have the ability to win and I believe that that’s what makes this such a popular tournament because you just don’t know what will happen next",
Suddenly Pink stormed off down the hall stomping with a repetitive rhythm. He got to the end and snatched his Poke balls from the Chansey. The reporter looked down at her watch and saw the time.
“Oh goodness, we’ve over run the time somehow all that’s left to say is that is how much it means. You two get ready for your battle and were going to have to end the interview”
They all left at the same time led by Grey who then went to collect his poke balls and go whilst the other two stood in the entrance waiting to be called out to battle.
“And now on pitch 2 we have a semi-final match to beat all others between youth and experience, without further or do thets get ready to battle. Firstly on the green side we have the girl of a million tactic, oh yes its... Kid Jess”
A massive puff of pinkness blew out of the doorway with animated love hearts to enhance the much awaited entrance. Jess waddled out with her tiny little feet as the sympathetic audience clapped and cheered the cute trainer. Jess waved her long pink hair to shake out a white pokeball and shook her arms and legs to prepare her nerves for the big match.
“And on the purple side we have... The Masked Mysterio!”
A blast of black smoke shot out the doorway... the game was on.
Next time: who will Grey face in the final and who has arrived to shake things up
