JadeEspeon said:So, then PLACING damage wouldn't be considered the same as taking damage? (I have not played against a deck that does this, local format is currently swarmed with Zeels and KlinkKlang) If Espeon can't be used against Damagriigus, it most definitely can not be used against Raticate.
Placing damage counters is not the same as being damaged, but very similar to moving damage. Let's use this Espeon from call of legends and Gengar from Triumphant vs Unown G (acting like espeon from dark explorers) While attached to any pokémon.
Gengar uses curse drop on pokémon X with Unown G attached and pokémon Z with nothing attached to it. nothing happens to pokémon X, the effect of placing damage counters is prevented, but pokémon Z gets damage counters.
Espeon from CoL uses Solar Suggestion on pokémon X and Z for 2 each. The Espeon player still gets to move 4 damage counters off of their pokémon, but only pokémon Z gets 2 damage counters added to it. The other 2 damage counters just vanish as if healed.
As far as the Espeon from Dark Explorers goes, it's ability is like every pokémon on its side of the field that has energy attached acts as if they also have an Unown G attached as a tool.
