Ruling Bringing out the Darkness

Hi all,

One of the Power Keepers starter theme decks has some Darkness Pokémon in it as well as 4 Darkness Special Energy Cards. As the regular Energy Search Trainer Cards provided will not help me get the Darkness Special Energy cards, I was windering which Trainer card(s) can help me out? Or maybe some Pokémon power?

I guess it's the same thing with Metal Special Energy cards... You can only have a max of 4 of them in a deck. How does one optimize his deck to get those Metal/Darkness Pokémon out and ready to fight? Rainbow Energy?

Thanks!

Well, you can use Holon Lass to get it out & you can also use special energy to replace the darkness energy BUT you won't get the +10 damage effect...

If you run a deck of pure DARK, these cards are considerable:

Dark Energy
DarkMetal Energy
Holon's Magneton/Electrode/Castform
Scramble Energy
Double Rainbow Energy (Despite the damage drop)

Coincidentally, those cards work for Metal too. So a DarkMetal deck would likely use 4 Dark, 4 DarkMetal and 4 Metal Energy, which would be expanded by some of the above cards.

Rainbow Energy works ONLY in decks with either damage movers (examples are Banette Ex and Typhlosion Delta) or decks with Pokemon that do more damage for each damage counter (Such as Gardevoir Delta, Blastoise Delta and Golem).

If you want a pure Dark or Metal deck, it might be recommended to wait for May or so though. D/P releases normal Metal/Darkness energy.

On a side note, I dont know any power that searches Dark Energy, but Starmie from Delta Species can fetch Metal Energy.

if you want to have more dark energies, play dark metal, multi, rainbow, DRE, dt rainbow(if you have dt), hmagneton, helectrode... for draw it, hlass, flygondt, starmie dt for metal... and for recover it energy restore...

Wow, great replies!

I came back to Pokémon TCG a couple of months ago and am building quite a nice collection. It's for the kids... not me, I swear! ;-)

I was trying to improve the theme deck as we almost never see the Dark Pokémon in action.

Thanks!
