Standard Budget Golisopod Deck

Really like the look of the new Guardians Golisopod card - Armour is great and Resolute Claws OHKOs things like Darkrai and many others with a Choice Band/Kukui up. Here's my deck idea that includes the new Victreebel - also, is there any pokemon that does more damage if the opponent is statused as it could work with bel?

POKEMON - 17
Wimpod x4
Golisopod x4
Bellsprout GUR x3
Weepinbell GUR x1
Victreebel GUR x3
Drampa x2

TRAINERS - 29
Professor Sycamore x2
Energy Switch x4
Ultra Ball x4
Rare Candy x4
Energy Retrieval x2
Lillie x2
Professor Kukui x4
Choice Band x4
Switch x2
Escape Rope x1

ENERGY - 14
Double Colourless Energy x4
Leaf Energy x10

Idea: Set up behind Drampa, allow your opponent to take as little prizes as possible. This nicely beats out the meta, and is zero EXs/GXs therefore cheap to make and doesn't allow your opponent to win quickly. Thoughts?

Seems like a lot of work to utilize victreebel's attack if you aren't going to run FoGP; also dilutes your Golisopod/Drampa draw rate. I don't think it adds enough to the deck. If you are looking to weaken your opponent's active & bench so you can OHKO with Golisopod, I would recommend adding 2 Tapu Koko promos (once they are released, 19 May) since you are already running DCE and it can hit everything for 20 turn one. Do that for two rounds and a Goli w/Choice Band can OHKO just about anything.

Would also recommend a lysandre or 2, and some trainer's mail or acro bikes to hunt out those all important choice bands.

I run a Golisopod deck with 4/4 Goli line, 2 Tapu Lele, and 1 Shaymin (I know this makes it not a budget deck) and so far it has been doing fairly well, but I am excited to continue to tweak it to make it even better!

Perhaps Victreebel might not be the right play in this deck. Any thoughts on what might be a better grass type play that keeps this a budget deck? I'll probably get rid of the Rare Candies and replace it with a couple of Acro Bikes and a couple of FoGP. Perhaps 2-2 Trevenant GUR (along with break) or possibly 2-2 Yanmega (and break), despite it falling out of favour recently?

Trevanant would be a good addition, or another budget option would be Pinsir (SM6) - Roof fling can be a great stall move while you load up your golisopods.

If you are dropping the Victreebel line, then FoGP is not necessary since Goli and Trev are Stage 1's. you could fill the holes left from rare candy with crushing and/or enhanced hammers, or VS seekers (pretty much required to consistently get draw supporters - I know it's a bit pricey but even 1 or 2 would improve your draw consistency!)

Lurantis could be a good replacement from victreebel.
And i mean the one that is in the strenghening expansion, but i dont know if it will be realesed as an english card

I play Golisopod with Vespiquen in PTCGO, it works very well and alot of decks simply cant keep up with it. It would mean a HUGE amount of modifying to your list though, I can give you my list if you like :)

That's true - not sure I'm willing to shell out on VS seekers though since this is meant as a standard deck, and honestly I can't be paying £45 for 2 secret rare VS seekers right
now

The one that was released as a promo? That's an option, perhaps I'll run 2-2 Trevenant then either a 1-1 Lurantis or a 2-2 and remove a trainer

I wouldn't use Trevenant without Plume (I honestly wouldn't use it with plume cause I hate plume lol) because it's completely luck based.

Honestly, I really like this current Trevenant since most players will have at least 2 items in hand (unless they've played a ton that turn). I suppose it is quite luck based but Trevenant's a really solid attacker, along with the fact that Horn Leech can be boosted up by Lurantis, CB etc.

But even with two items in hand, it only does ninety damage. Also, people tend to burn items right when they get them. It's your deck, but I just don't think Trev would do well here. The promo Lurantis would be great, and it's already in PTCGO so I think you can get it in real life.

What might be a better option? Once again, trying to keep this deck standard/budget

Ive been using Vespiquen with Golisopod, that works pretty well. I can show you my list if you like :). I use it with Oranguru and one Shaymin, but I think Octillery would be fine

I think I am going to try the promo lurantis in my version of the deck, maybe a 2-1 or 2-2 line and throw in an extra nest ball....it's not a must have but it will allow Golisopod with choice band to hit for 200, which significantly increases the number of EX/GX's it can OHKO compared to 180 (Lapras, Umbreon, Espeon, Sylveon, Lycanroc, etc). Even if the active isn't an EX or GX you are still hitting for 130, so you can OHKO baby yveltal and many other popular 1-Prizers.
