Blog Busting In! A Look at Dragonite-EX / Bats

@TheUltimateAbsol hello there im very new to this game but enjoy it a ton, I would like to know if this deck is still playable after todays release of steam siege ?
Not for long. The rotation is coming up in about a month. It will be Primal Clash on, so that means the key cards for the deck, Dragonite-EX and Crobat, will rotate.

However, A Dragonite-EX was announced to be in the set after steam siege, Evolutions. It may be the case where Dragonite-EX is reprinted and the deck can live on a bit.

If you are in fact talking about the period before the rotation, I have to say, I don't know if the deck will do too well anymore. The deck thrives when people are playing "tiny" decks that can't hit 220 damage on the first few turns, but starts failing against Mega-Pokemon oriented decks and Ability lock decks.
Those decks are starting to thrive as of late - especially with the return of Garbodor (a card that shuts off all abilities) in Darkrai/Giratina/Garbodor.

On the light side, steam siege provides a few more tools for the deck to work with, such as Ninja Boy, Pokemon Ranger, the Special Energy recylcing card, and Klefki. They can work as amazing techs to even out a few of this deck's matchups, like Jolteon and M-Rayquaza, however, they do make the deck more inconsistent while it already can sometimes struggle with some draws.

Honestly, I went to Nationals with this deck, and I got shut down really bad by matchups that were never in my favor. Unless you are facing a meta entirely composed of low-HP baddies, or decks that stick with 170 HP attackers (and no Fighting Fury Belt), I wouldn't recommend spending money to build the deck.

Dragonite-EX + Ninja Boy could make a really good tech though in any Basic Energy-oriented deck while Dragonite can still be played
