buying cards on ebay

I've never been shopping on ebay before, but I desperately need some exs... so I just want to get a few tips from here before trying to buy any pokemon cards there. Actually, I'm just a little worried about the quality of cards I'll get (not to mention that there are so many ppl who sells Worlds exs).

In addition, how do you pay? What's the difference between normal ebay sellers and ebay stores?

(My apologies to the mods: I have no idea where to post this thread, so sorry if I posted it in the wrong forum.)

This is the golden rule when buying stuff from the net (EG: eBay)
Look before you buy....also make sure it's real & officecal!

Buying off Ebay isn't very hard. I've bought plenty of items off there and have only had one minor problem. The main thing to do is check someone's feedback before you bid. Checking pictures of the cards you're bidding on is a good idea too.

The main diference between sellers and stores is that stores have set prices, while auctions you have to bid on. It's not really a big difference to buy from either since sellers with a lot of products normally set up the stores.

well... how can I tell those pictures are real or not??? e.g. you bid on a Jolteon ex with the rare foil picture, but it turns out to be a Worlds card...

In the new worlds decks the cards have the autographs of the winners on them in silver writing. In the decks I got the cards were not shiny either. But do not buy unless you are certain.
Like others have mentioned- read all of the product description, read the feedback etc. Also, maybe people could recommend a seller to you.

Not only that, but if you have a problem like the jolteon example, you could always file a complaint to ebay for false advertising. Most of the time though, cards are legal and in good condition. Just practice using common sense.

i buy from ebay all the time..and i really had no problem..the only problem is waiting..sometimes it takes up to 2 weeks which i think is too long..but you should really consider the feedback..if your going to shop there find those power seller those people who have a lot of feed back...they should be more true. so far i've gotten pigeot and alakazam on ebay

Only buy a few cards to start with just in case there is an issue with the seller. Also some sellers will offer discount with multiple purchases. If you want it quickly then have a look at postage options. Though because it is the winter holidays it might be delayed. Also, if they offer insurance cheaply, I would use it.
