Discussion Buzzwole/Zoroark questions

I've been looking to drop Goli/Zoroark, and I've got plenty of cards at my disposal. I've considered mostly Zoroark variants including Glaceon, Lycanroc, but my most intriguing play is buzzwole, mostly because I can make room for further techs by dropping the 2nd stage 1, and it lends a really solid t1 opener.

Yet, I've seen very little talk about it. Is it a bad play? If so, why?

The problem is Mew EX can completely manipulate this deck and take an easy win.

Mew-EX can be a problem, but Zoroark-GX can KO it pretty easily.

I just think the variations we have that focus on Buzzwole-GX are better. "BuzzRoc" and Natalie/Andrew's "Fight Guys 3.0" lists are proven. Buzzwole-GX needs energy acceleration, whether it's from Max Elixir, Carbink Break, or both. I understand that you're focusing more on it's first attack with your build, but I feel like the Buzzwole-GX decks mentioned are heavily favored against this list.

I play Buzzwole-GX a ton. I probably feel more comfortable playing it than anything else at the moment, but this is all just my opinion. I think your list looks sound overall.

Thanks, you're pretty much right; I think maybe I'll stick with Zoroark/Golisopod for now, been running it a while. I think at this point if I ran buzz it'd be lycanroc or garbodor. I don't think Lucario and Buzzwole make a good team mostly because they get wrecked by Mew, Mew ex, Garbodor, and Espeon gx.

Here is my TL;DR summary: Devolve decks are tough to play.

When people talk about Buzz/Zoroark I think this is the most common version of the deck. I think you'll just about always be on the negative end of a prize trade due to the ease at which the following pokemon can OHKO your own. (Lucario-GX, Lycanroc-GX, Mew-EX, Garbodor) Additionally you're really never doing enough to KO a Bulu, who just needs a ChoiceBand to get 2 prizes. Another issue I see is you might get the wrong energy for the wrong attacker. Additionally, if you're softening your opponent for a devolve play, those are only worth 1 prize each...lets say you get lucky and get 2 of them devolved, you're sitting with an Espeon-EX up front- needing to still maybe take 2 more prizes with no moves. Not to mention- what do you do the 10% of the time your Espeon-EX is in your prizes? And also there's nothing stopping your opponent from Acerola-ing or Max Potioning away the damage.

The list I run flips the card upside down- and you'll play it more like a Buzz/Lycanroc; but with better draw power IMO. As @JGB146 pointed out I've thus far made top cut in 4 out of 5 online tournies with the core of the list being the same. (And I dont play IRL). In most cases my goal is to optimize a T2 Absorption-GX; if not KO'ed you can follow it up with a Knuckle Impact. I have my own Mew-EX as a counter for Espeon, Lucario, & Lycanroc. (Being able to copy Riotous Beatdown and even Dangerous Rouge-GX) Can keep you on track trading prizes for prizes. Sudowoodo can copy a Bulu or Dusk Mane Necrozma for KO, I really do want to squeeze in a Mallow; but I dont know what I'd cut from it. Hope this helps!
