  • 1 Escape Rope
  • 2 Choice Band
  • 2 Fighting Fury Belt
  • 3 Float Stone
  • 3 Brooklet Hill
Energy: 13
  • 9 Fighting Energy
  • 4 Strong Energy
Strategy:
Buzzwole does ridiculous damage for one Energy. Zygarde-EX does ridiculous damage for one Energy. The deck is focused on doing a lot of damage for low amounts of Energy in the early game. In the mid-late game, hit for 160+ on a weakened GX or stream 100+ damage a turn.

Thoughts:
This is the first iteration of the idea. I am considering changing the tech attackers and something else for a 2-2 Carbink Break. I get annoyed with Alolan Ninetales so, at least one of the two helps with that match up. I could go all-in on the single Energy + heal but, Ho-Oh and Bulu can easily one-shot my big Basics. Fighting Fury Belt is added because I can hit 60-70 HP Basics a little easier.

Espeon-EX is mainly a spicy tech because Stage 2 decks and probably the most flexible spot. If spread decks become a thing or Zygarde (50%) is super helpful, Mr. Mime is more important. Zygarde (50%) can do 120 without any damage modifiers, 180 with Strong Energy + Choice Band + Regirock at the cost of a fast first attack. Hitmonchan (EVO) fits the deck's strategy more than 50% without a strong late-game option.

Edit 1:
  • -1 Hitmonchan (EVO)
  • +1 Stardust Jirachi
Future iterations may remove the Max Elixir engine for Carbink BREAK; -4 Max Elixir, -3 Fighting, +2-2 Carbink BREAK, +1 Acerola, +1 Choice Band, +1 free slot (Regirock-EX, Heavy/Nest Ball, or Switch).

Personally I think this deck has a lot more potential in Expanded, but here go my changes:

I would say 9 Fighting is waaaaay too much. I would personally go for 6 as well as the 4 Strong. Don't change the tech attackers for Carbink BREAK: remove your Max Elixir, you do not need them. Although, Hitmonchan is a distinctly average card and I wouldn't run it. I would run Stardust Jirachi instead to slow down your opponent and buy you some more turns.

I was thinking about a list like this that focuses on getting fast damage with buzzwole. It would really punish all the stage 2 decks if they dont get a fast start.
I dont know about zygarde ex; just focus on powering your buzzwole for that 160 damage.
What do you think about a 2-2 octillery line? Or running po town to truly punish evolutions?
I'll post my list soon..

The reason why Zygarde is in there is to have an easier time against Psychic decks.

I have used a similar version in Expanded, actually. It had Max Elixir and a 1-1 line of Carbink BREAK. It was more of a fun variant than a competitive build. Landorus single-handedly won me games when I have Regirocks down.

On the Max Elixir to Carbink BREAK, I will try that version at some point. I like the speed of Max Elixir more than the Energy recovery but, it highly depends on the meta post-CRI. Stardust Jirachi for Hitmonchan is the better trade off and will amend the first post.

Buzzwole doing 60-70 damage softens up most Stage 2 GX Pokemon for a follow-up Espeon-EX or 160-180 necessary to finish them off. Another reason for the Max Elixir is to have the option to hit 160+ next turn with my (back-up) Buzzwole.

Zygarde-EX handles Psychic types and most Garbodor builds.

Po Town is a good alternative and I might actually settle on that in the near future. Getting all the pieces on board is generally better, especially with Garbodor in the format. I might retool the deck in the future if Stage 2 GXs completely overrun the meta post-CRI.

I thought about running Octillery but, it seemed better if I was focusing on healing/Acerola every turn. Again, if Po Town + healing is the better build, I will consider it.
