we all know that the next format will be slower. thus these are some BW cards that i think might have some potential. i would like to get your thoughts on them also. so here we go:

Hahakomori – Grass – HP130
Stage 2 – Evolves from Kurumayu

[C] Raise Up: Choose 1 Evolution card that Evolves from 1 of your Pokemon from your deck, and play it on top of that Pokemon to Evolve it. Shuffle your deck afterward.
[G][C] X-Scissor: 30 damage. Flip a coin, if heads this attack does an additional 50 damage.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

it could be like the new spiritomb. just rare candy and start set up t2.

Tsunbear – Water – HP130
Stage 1 – Evolves from Kumashun

[W][C][C] Sheer Cold: 50 damage. During your opponent’s next turn, the opponent’s Active Pokemon that was hit by this move can’t use any attacks.
[W][W][C][C] Icicle Drop: 80 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Resistance.

Weakness: Steel (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

i really like this card. being able to stop your opponent from attacking all together is great. it would need to be combined with feraligatr for energy cost. feraligatr is going to be needed alot next format.

Zebraika – Lightning – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Shimama

[C] Rear Kick: 30 damage.
[L][L][L] Electric Spark: 70 damage. This attack also does 10 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance when damaging the Bench.)

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

this card would be good even in todays spread decks. it could even work with a card like Honchkrow to snipe for 50 to who ever.

Dorewzu – Fighting – HP110
Stage 1 – Evolves from Mogurew

[C] Metal Claw: 30 damage.
[F][F][F] Dill Liner: 80 damage. Choose 1 Energy attached to the opponent’s Active Pokemon and discard it.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: Lighting (-20)
Retreat: 2

this might be one of my favorite cards from the set (mostly because i love excadrill lol). combined with crush hammer you can assure that your opponent doesnt have any energies and it might be a viable counter to LostGar

Vulgina – Darkness – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Vulchi

[D] Sneak Attack: Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon that already has damage counters on it, and do 50 damage to that Pokemon.
[D][C][C] Punishment: 40 damage. If your opponent’s Active Pokemon is a Stage 2 Evolved Pokemon, this attack does an additional 60 damage.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

there will most likely be alot of stage 2 decks so being able to hit for 100+ with sp dark you can do some serious damage

Jalorda – Grass – HP130
Stage 2 – Evolves from Janobii

Ability: Royal Heal
As long as this Pokemon is in play, in between turns, restore 10 HP to each of your Pokemon.

[G][C] Grass Mixer: 60 damage. Choose any number of Grass Energy attached to your Pokemon, and rearrange it on your Pokemon in any way you like.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Water (-20)
Retreat: 1

this is like nidoqueen 2. its attack isnt bad also. combined with roserade it can be very formidable and tank very well.

Symbolar – Psychic – HP90
Basic Pokemon

[P] Reflect: During your opponent’s next turn, any damage done to this Pokemon by attacks is reduced by 40.
[P][C][C] Telekinesis: Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon and do 50 damage to that Pokemon. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Weakness or Resistance.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

pretty good sniper. would go well with a spread deck.

Warubiaru – Fighting – HP140
Stage 2 – Evolves from Warubiru

[C][C] Torment: 30 damage. Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks. During your opponent’s next turn, the opponent’s Active Pokemon that was hit by this move can’t use the chosen attack.
[F][F][C][C] Death Roll: 60 damage. If the opponent’s Active Pokemon already has damage counters on it at the time of dealing damage, do an additional 40 damage.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: Lightning (-20)
Retreat: 3

this card would go perfect in a spread deck. just spread then everything already has damage counters and you just do 100 over and over.

Zoroark – Darkness – HP100
Stage 1 Evolution – Evolves from Zorua

[D] Nasty Plot: Choose any 1 card from your deck and put it in your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
[C][C] Foul Play: Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks, and use it as this attack.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 1

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS CARD IS SO OVER LOOKED!!! this card is amazing. the first attack is really good and can be used in almost any deck then the second attack is amazing with how it doesnt need the required energy just think....use dragon rush against LuxChomp lol

Muurando – Colorless – HP140
Stage 2 – Evolves from Harderrier

[C][C] Sniff Out: Flip 3 coins, for each heads choose 1 card from your discard pile, show it to your opponent, and put it in your hand.
[C][C][C][C] Giga Impact: 90 damage. This Pokemon can’t use any attacks during your next turn.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

the first attack can be pretty useful and the second can be a OHKO on some poke. i really would focus on the first attack though. use it to get what you need out of the discard.

Cheren
Trainer’s – Support

Draw 3 cards from your deck.

You can only use 1 Support card during your turn.

dang....new draw power right here

so what do you guys think. do these have potential?

Wait. It's Stage 2, meaning you'd need resources to get it out. It also takes up more space. And it uses a Grass energy, which you may not already run. Oh, and it doesn't block Trainers, which you can work around if you use Spiritomb and does hinder your opponent. No thank you.

Tsunbear – Water – HP130
Stage 1 – Evolves from Kumashun

[W][C][C] Sheer Cold: 50 damage. During your opponent’s next turn, the opponent’s Active Pokemon that was hit by this move can’t use any attacks.

I feel like the first attack has more potential than the second, particularly after SP and all that free retreat is rotated. The second attack is meh, 80 damage isn't great by any means. If something comes out in the next few sets that stops or hinders retreat, this COULD be good. Otherwise, Catcher would be necessary.

Too slow. 3 Lighting Energy is tough to get on it, and 90 HP and a bad Fighting weakness means it won't even last.

I feel like there are too many cards that use 1-energy attacks for this to be great. 110 HP is meh, and the damage isn't too great either.

Retreat: 1

This is a good one. Works well as a counter to LostGar if it's in one's area, and you're correct in saying post-rotation, Stage 2 deck popularity will definitely increase in popularity. And even if you're not against a Stage-2-based deck, Sneak Attack is definitely not bad. Takin' out the techs.

Jalorda – Grass – HP130
Stage 2 – Evolves from Janobii

Ability: Royal Heal
As long as this Pokemon is in play, in between turns, restore 10 HP to each of your Pokemon.

[G][C] Grass Mixer: 60 damage. Choose any number of Grass Energy attached to your Pokemon, and rearrange it on your Pokemon in any way you like.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Water (-20)
Retreat: 1

This is a nice card. I like it for its Ability. It could possibly do well as a deck. I see it being paired well with Vileplume and Sunflora.

Symbolar – Psychic – HP90
Basic Pokemon

[P] Reflect: During your opponent’s next turn, any damage done to this Pokemon by attacks is reduced by 40.
[P][C][C] Telekinesis: Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon and do 50 damage to that Pokemon. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Weakness or Resistance.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

pretty good sniper. would go well with a spread deck.
Sniping for 50 for 3 energy is never the answer.

100 for 4 energy? ehhhh. I'd rather use something that can do it for less, and doesn't require damage already on Pokémon. SpeedPluff beats this, Charizard beats this... actually, almost every meta deck beats this. It's just too slow, even with DCE.

Zoroark – Darkness – HP100
Stage 1 Evolution – Evolves from Zorua

[D] Nasty Plot: Choose any 1 card from your deck and put it in your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
[C][C] Foul Play: Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks, and use it as this attack.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 1

It's alright. The first attack, we've seen in Togetic, but the second attack's pretty good. The problem is... the energy cost. Any deck you play against will be optimized to use their own attack. With this deck, you have to prepare for a lot of stuff. And let's face it, you're not going to win against Gyara. You can't OHKO it, it OHKOs you with a Belt or Bat drop. Charizard's another great example of something you just cannot beat because you won't have a fire bench. And to even do 80, you need to discard a fire energy, which you likely won't have. Against LostGar, you likely won't play Lost World, because you're going to lose that matchup even if you do. Jumpluff just outspeeds you. There are too many matchups where this deck loses to make Zoruark good.

I don't like it. Second attack is just awful, and the first attack you won't want to use mid-to-late game (the only time it's useful) due to the sad damage output. Oh, and did I mention it takes up a lot of space?

Cheren
Trainer’s – Support

Draw 3 cards from your deck.

You can only use 1 Support card during your turn.

dang....new draw power right here
...Not really. Refresh>Draw. Plus, we already have cards similar to this (Cheerleader's Cheer is only slightly worse, and still not that good).

^lol

were talking post rotation scizor. you can get 3 energies on without being KOed. again with stage 2 decks you will have time. gyara will be gone, crobat gone, SP speed gone, you will actually have a couple turns to place energies and what ever.

no one ever said that it would block trainers...its just a 1-0-1 or 2-1-2 tech. it would take up almost as much space as 4 spiritomb. plus it has the grass engine behind it.

if only we had an attack that could stop them from retreating :(

again...its slower

no...the drill liner attack keeping no energies on them will be great. low energy decks will be crushed

nothing to say on the vulgina one

vileplume? why? it might be good with something like blissey prime so you can move energies and do damage...but we also have meganium for that

it will be the answer in a slower format :p

speedpluff beats most things...charizard i think will die a little withe the rise of water decks. but also emboar will be a great addition to charizard for fast energy placement

being able to use your opponents moves is really good. against LostGar spread against them or as you said just use hurl against them. jumpluff just get one zoroark set up and you can dish out the same amount that they are doing to you...which will most likly KO them because they wont have shaymin any more

again a 2-1-2 tech would be fine. and yes the second attack is bad but once again it might be able to OHKO some things. just do giga then sniff out then giga then sniff...

drawing is almost as good as refresh. it will be a better alternative to cheerleader and is better than bill. its a new drawer.

^I beg to differ on the slowness point. Donphan will still be around, doing 60, 80 w/ E-Belt, for 1 energy. That's a lot. Plus, it has the -20 damage on attacks, meaning if you're doing 100 damage to it, it's like doing 80. And I think we all know 1 energy on a Stage 1 to do the same thing as 4 energy on a Stage 2 is much much better (looking at Warubiaru here).

The idea behind Hahakomori is to evolve, meaning you'd use it as a starter. You'd need at LEAST a 3-0-3 line for it to considered a legit starter, plus it's still a whole lot worse than Spiritomb even so. I don't understand why people like this card.

Unfortunately, there isn't an attack that could stop them from retreating (yet).

As for Drill Liner... by low-energy decks, I mean decks that rely on Pokémon with a low Energy Cost. It doesn't have enough HP to last 3 turns, so you'll consistently fall behind on energy attachment.

Vileplume would be good with Jalorda because it's grass-type, and stops Catcher from being a nuisance to those Sunflora. Vileplume can be worked easily into an engine with Sunflora, so it's a natural fit to put it in with Jalorda.

Symbolar still isn't good. 50 for 3 is just awful. Even in a slower format. And it only has 90 HP. Not being fast+Not getting OHKOs makes it bad.

Well, for Zoruark, all I'm saying is that any good deck you face will be optimized for their own strategy, which you won't be. Zoruark's much slower than Jumpluff still, so it loses. Using Hurl against LostGar doesn't even help you win. And spreading 4 damage counters a turn isn't even good.

A 2-1-2 tech that needs 2 energy to do 30 damage is definitely NOT fine... you don't need discarded stuff back that badly.

Drawing isn't as good as refresh, though, so people will still use PONT/Judge/Copycat.

I kind of like Krookodile (AKA Warubiaru) As much as it is slow, in a slower format, I think like catcutie said. It has some potential. (I plan to build a deck using it and Ferrothorn.)

Ferrothorn AKA Nutrei

Metal – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Ferroseed AKA Tesseed

[M] Steel Tentacle: Flip 3 coins, this attack does 30 damage times the number of heads.
[M][C][C] Gyro ball: 60 damage. Switch this Pokemon with one of your Benched Pokemon. Then, your opponent switches his or her own Active Pokemon with one of his or her Benched Pokemon.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It reminds me a lot of SF Magnezone, except without the useful power. Is there going to be a good blocker in the format?

i totally forgot about donphan lol. arg hes gonna be like the new SP.

i can see ferrothorn decks now...just do gyro ball to switch to another ferroseed and just switch over and over and they wont really be able to keep up (low retreat will be gone for the most part....and it would only work if you get to choose who they switch too) its first attack is pretty good too.

good blocker? maybe wailord. 180 HP is crazy e-belt 200

Leavanny: The fact that it is a stage 2 just steers me away from using it as a starter. It would require the use of a rare candy in order to be useful and I look for a lack of dependency on trainers in a starter pokemon.

Emboar: How could you forget Emboar? He'll be a great way to accelerate energy in a deck that requires or can use fire energy. It'll also be great if he'll still be able to attach fire energy to any pokemon on his English card.

Reshiram: I think Reshiram is worth noting. He could be used as a good attack in a deck utilizing Emboar. The energy acceleration will allow him to attack quicker and more often. The fact that he's a basic also helps. Blue Flame early game will knock out any pokemon in one hit since early game the pokemon on the field tend to be more fragile.

Beartic: I can see him having potential with Sheer Cold. It would make for a great lock deck if there was a more definite way to keep your opponent from retreating. It would be great to see a Sablelock-esque deck in the future utilizing Beartic as the main attacker locking your opponent's attacks while providing the knockout while they're struggling for resources. Too bad it will never happen.

Zebraika: Personally, I don't see much potential in him. He would be alot better if his spread damage was much more.

Gothitelle: Gothitelle has some potential as a lock deck, locking only your opponent's trainers. In a slower format hopefully Mad Kinesis will be a viable attack allowing Gothitelle decks to see some sunlight.

Excadrill: Excadrill is another card I hope will see play. Energy Disruption seems like a fun type of deck to run. Paired with energy disruption cards such as Crush Hammer, hopefully Excadrill will see some play.

Vullaby: Definitely has potential. I can see him working well in Sablelock as of now, but since Sableye will be rotated hopefully there will be another deck similar to Sablelock in the future. Vullaby is a great Lostgar counter and a good counter against any stage 2 pokemon. Sneak Attack is a good snipe that would work well with Crobat G or any card that can spread damage around. Punishment is Vullaby's counter to Gengar and other stage 2 pokemon.

Cinccino: Do The Wave will cause Cinccino to see some play. Using supporters such as Collector to swarm your bench early on, Do The Wave, at the cost of just one DCE, will be doing enough damage to provide the knockout. It maxes out at 100 so you would try to focus on achieving early knockouts because it'll be harder to get one hit knockouts with more stage 2 decks being played in a slower format.

Bouffalant: He doesn't have much potential in a slower format with bulkier pokemon, but in a format infested with sp's I think he could shine. In a deck like Sableye he could work similar to counters like Dragonite FB who's focus is to counter Garchomp C. Bouffalant could be brought up to get a revenge knockout on an opponent's sp as it will be able to do 90 damage.

Energy Retrieval: Could shine in deck featuring Emboar and Reshiram. You could use Blue Flame then next turn get the two energy you discarded back and attach them both with Emboar the same turn. It's a trainer so you aren't limited to one per turn as well.

Crush Hammer: Good for energy disruption

Max Restore: Could work in a similar fashion as people use seeker and poketurn to heal their pokemon.

Serperior: I think Serperior could make a good deck on his own utilizing the other Serperior card as an attacker. You could heal for 40 damage every turn if played right. The only problem is the hefty set up required which may be too difficult to achieve.

Samurott: Perhaps he'll be a good tank in the future utilizing Gatr Prime maybe. Hydro Pump will do 100 minimum if all the energy on him is water while he has his ability to cut back on damage he receives.

Zekrom: Along with Reshiram, I believe Zekrom will have potential being a basic. Pachi could be used for energy acceleration to quickly power up Zekrom. Outrage could also be used after a few Lightning Strikes. Max Restores or Seekers could be used to heal Zekrom.

Sigilyph: There are definitely better spread cards.

Reuniclus: Reuniclus is like the Alakazam of base set. If we get another card like Erica's Dratini that absorbs damage well, I see this as being a competitive stall deck. The only problem I see with Reuniclus is it being out shined by a pokemon like Serperior who could just heal the damage away that could be used in a stall deck in a similar fashion.

Krookodile: Torment is just a weaker version of Sheer Cold on a Stage 2 pokemon but with one less energy requirement. Death Roll is ok. He could be used as a late game attacker in a spread deck.

Zoroark: I think Zoroark has potential. His first attack is an added benefit as it has been on cards before that have never seen any play. Personally I think his second attack will be a good counter to some decks. Zoroark could use Gengar Primes attack to spread then use Vullaby to snipe or even since if the Lost World isn't the win condition you go for. Lost Zoning pokemon in your opponent's hand is still a great tactic. You just have to remember that it will require psychic energy.

Ferrothorn: I think Ferrothorn could be used in a similar style as Magnezone. Using Gyro Ball to disrupt your opponent. Being a stage 1 makes him quicker than Magnezone.

Stoutland: I don't really see any potential in Stoutland. Sniff Out is flippy, but if it was guaranteed, Stoutland would be pretty good.

Revive: This card could add interesting depth to the game

Pokemon Catcher: Hello Gust of Wind. That's all I have to say. Gives every deck a Luxray ability.

^i didnt put the obvious ones like emboar and gothy lol

i was thinking of a reshiboar deck maybe for next year

I think Reshiboar has potential. In a slower format, you may have the time to set up Reshiram and take a few ko's before your opponent sets up something Reshiram can't one hit ko.

I'm looking into incorporating Vullaby and/or Zoroark into my Sablelock deck before rotation. Hopefully they'll work. I think Vullaby will be able to be incorporated easily and be useful. Zoroark will hopefully see positive results, it's more of a long shot. I also want to try incorporating Bouffalant in, but I think Dragonite FB is more effective because Bouffalant requires a ko.

I can't believe only 1 person here has mentioned Chillacchino.

Chillacchino – Colorless – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Chillarmy

[C] Sweep Slap: Flip 2 coins, this attack does 20 damage times the number of heads.
[C][C] Do the Wave: Does 20 damage times the number of Pokemon on your Bench.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

This will be THE deck to run, because it requires only 1 turn to set up, if you are lucky. 2 max, if you are a good player and 3 if you are a bad player. With full bench, you are racking up 100 each turn for 1 DCE, and you should have some attackers in reserve if your opponent gets something set up. I can see this being paired with Donphan, because of his ability to be teched into almost anything. But for B/W only, this will be the new SP.

^i said i wasnt gonna mention the obvious ones lol it will be like the new jumpluff except it will be faster and i think i might play it. we will have so many decks next format that can actually be competative

I think that Simisear has potential for the prerelease doing 20 danage to 3 pokemon for 1 energy sound like a winner to me.

Simisear – Fire – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Pansear

[R] Burst Flame: 20 damage. Choose 2 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon, and this attack also does 20 damage to each of those Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance when damaging the Bench.)
[C][C][C] Fury Swipes: Flip 3 coins, this attack does 40 damage times the number of heads.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

The prerelease isn't competitive play though. Many cards can be good at the prerelease while they aren't good anywhere else.

Looking for Combos!
Code:
Mandibuzz – Darkness – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Vullaby

[D] Sneak Attack: Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon that already has damage counters on it, and do 50 damage to that Pokemon.
[D][C][C] Punishment: 40 damage. If your opponent’s Active Pokemon is a Stage 2 Evolved Pokemon, this attack does an additional 60 damage.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

Code:
Zebstika – Lightning – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Blitzle

[C] Rear Kick: 30 damage.
[L][L][L] Electric Spark: 70 damage. This attack also does 10 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance when damaging the Bench.)

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

I've always tried spread decks. I tried combinations of Honchkrow (UD), Cacturne (PT), Abomsnow (SF), and Yanmega (LA). However, they weren't fast enough. I think that Zebstika and Mandibuzz have potential for a great spread deck.

Code:
Beartic – Water – HP130
Stage 1 – Evolves from Cubchoo

[W][C][C] Sheer Cold: 50 damage. During your opponent’s next turn, the opponent’s Active Pokemon that was hit by this move can’t use any attacks.
[W][W][C][C] Icicle Drop: 80 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Resistance.

Weakness: Steel (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3
Sheer Cold has the potential to be an amazing stall. With Dugtrio (PT) and Pokemon Catcher, this could be great. Pokemon Catcher to drag up something with high retreat, a Dugtrio or two to discourage retreating, and Sheer Cold to keep them from attacking.

i like all the pan's. there second attack can be good if you get lucky. i think there will be alot of spread decks next season.

i would do a 3-3 of dugtrio for 60 if they retreat...that would be great OR 4-4 AND THEN 80....dang ive got my deck rofl

^Well, then you have 1 other bench space open. Meaning a backup line of your main attacker, since it requires so many energy that you want it to be available as soon as your active gets KO'd. So no more spots left for techs or stuff.
