Ever since way back when BW was made, I evolved my teams, winning more and more, and learning more and more. What I came up with now has gotten me plenty of wins, and plenty of losses. What I want is to sharpen this team to a fine point. I'm looking for any criticism.
Tornadus (Thundurus) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Thunder Wave
Quite the antilead and scouter. Taunt is useful, keeping hazards off the field, keeping Pokemon from sweeping, etc. and the priority is also a nice boost. I'm debating whether or not I should take TWave out for HP Ice, but with the current Metagame Speed is almost a must for game changing. Thunderbolt is main STAB, and it takes chunks out, 2HKOing Scizor. Volt Switch also gets STAB and is nicely used against opponents that would give Thundurus trouble. I also am kind of looking to replace Thundurus for another lead.
Kid Friendly (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
My second Taunter, Gyarados also builds offensive momentum, being able to setup and having quite a bit bulk. I know Stone Edge is usually used over Earthquake but I've found Earthquake more useful then Stone Edge so far, not just with accuracy, but with use too. Waterfall is a good STAB used, helpful with the oh-so-often flinch. Taunt is a good addition, allowing Gyarados to set up without worrying about Status moves. Gyarados also pairs well with Jirachi being able to resist both of Jirachi's weaknesses.
Mel Gibson (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 164 HP / 168 Atk / 176 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
The usual Parahax set. I love using this thing, it causes deaths and forces switches it's not even funny. I chose Body Slam over Thunderwave due to Jirachi would only be limited to Iron Head and Fire Punch, which doesn't have to much coverage and anything that resists the ladder recieves neutral damage from Body Slam. Substitute is quite useful, making sure Jirachi doesn't get burnt, paralyzed, or confused. Fire Punch is useful both in that it clears out other Steel Pokemon that resists Body Slam and Iron Head Jirachi also helps Gyarados, resisting the common Rock Slide and Stone Edge that would otherwise kill Gyarados.
Latias (Latios) (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Dragon Pulse
- Draco Meteor
Choice Specs Latios is quite nice, denting most Pokemon and killing others. HP Fire allows Latios to not be walled so easily by the likes of the oh-so-common Ferrothorn and other steel types. Surf is quite useful and commonly used against opposing Pokemon that would resists Dragon Pulse or Draco Meteor. Dragon Pulse adds nice STAB, also Latios's most commonly used move, add in STAB and Choice Specs boost and you've got a dangerous move. Draco Meteor is devastation, only resisted by few Pokemon, and is foolish switching into one. Latios's ability is nice, as it helps with Jirachi's ground weakness if Gyarados is KO'd.
Grumpy (Dusknoir) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Gravity
- DynamicPunch
This Pokemon is the latest I've added for the team. At first I added it just because it was something, then I got into it more and everything got better. 252 EVs in Sp Def gives 405 Sp. Def while Will-O-Wisp helps lower physical attackers that threaten Dusknoir. Gravity is a good boost as it helps DynamicPunch hit more, adding onto residual damage. Pain Split is a bit of a gamble, recovering HP, but it depends on how much Dusknoir and the opponent has, which, at times won't matter unless predicted due to Dusknoir's slow speed.
Zuruzukin (Scrafty) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shed Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Drain Punch
- Dragon Dance
- Ice Punch
- Crunch
Last but not least, Scrafty. This thing is such a threat with Shed Skin, not fearing WoW, Toxic, or Thunder Wave, as Shed Skin takes care of the problem, allowing Scrafty to take on a dual roll as a sweeper and a status absorber. Dragon Dance is such a compliment to Scarfty, due to low speed and at max 279 atk. Drain Punch got a major gain today, having the PP increased from 5 to 10, and since PO automatically adds PP ups, has 16 PP total, which adds to another advantage: recovery. Free recovery in the form of an attack boosted by STAB and Dragon Dance? This is quite the keystone move. Ice Punch adds coverage to Scrafty, allowing it to take out Salamence, Dragonite, and every other Pokemon weak to Ice. Crunch is Scrafty's secondary STAB, and comes with a nice secondary effect, having a chance to lower the defence of any Pokemon that survive Crunch. My only problem with Scrafty is that it can't really KO waters types such as Rotom-W, so any move change suggestions would be nice.
