Call of Legends

Okay, I don't really know much about this set other than it has a bunch of legendary Pokemon in it as well as PONT and Leafeon. That being said why do most of the Pokemon (the legendary Pokemon in particular) have such terrible energy costs and and relatively under par HP compared to HGSS and BW? I was really looking forward to using an awesome Palkia card for the metagame, but it looks like he's just too outmatched :(

I can't help but to wonder that this is just a collection set or something. Can anybody clarify this for me?

Call of Legends was a filler/reprint set for us to buy until Black & White came out (the set, not the video games), the set brought some good reprints and Pachirisu to the metagame, Lost World was the most hyped card from the set and after exstensive testing by players everywhere it was proven it is not worth the hype it recieved, sales quickly went down for CoL and continue to be low today, now they have to put CoL packs in box sets just to sell them, and to answer about the collector's set thing, yes, I belive it is. (forgive me if any of this is wrong, this is almost entirely based on my views on the set and it's sales)

Most of the Legendary Pokemon in Call of Legends originated as Shiny lottery cards in Japan that weren't particularly playable. They basically existed to look pretty and for collectors to chase. But in the English set, TPCi dumped all eleven shinies in as a subset and reprinted them all as regular cards to boost the set count too.

SOME of those reprints in CoL are actually quite good, by the way. We've got Ninetails HGSS, Smeargle UD, and even some of the new cards are great. Lost Remover is very common in today's metagame!

I think they can be played but there not that consistent with there really bad attacks and high energy for them.
I think most people just collect them like I do

This is pretty much Nintendo's Legenday Collection (Wizards of the Coast reprint set). I think they chose a bunch of stuff that they thought was good, gave them a new art and made some dumb Legendary Pokemon cards that aren't even remotley playable.
Nah, the set was just a filler with nothing good in it.
Edit: Hardly anything good.

I sort of suspected this. On another note, I sort of hope it stays in meta for the few good cards it does have. If they aren't going to print another PONT anytime soon I'd rather see it stay.

Yep, but considering Japan never had the set the rotation will most likely be BW-On.

You never know until they announce it though.
