I'm new to Pokemon but a veteran of the Naruto CCG. Naruto has a simple rarity system. Common, uncommon, rare, and super rare. Rare you pull in every pack and super rare, you pull one in every 6 packs.

What is the rarity in Pokemon. I see that there's common, uncommon and rare. Are some rares harder to pull than other?

as you said, you have Common, Uncommon, and Rare...you do have Super Rares and Secret Rares

Super Rares are generally your Lv. X's...they come about 2 per box
Secret Rares are generally your Shiny Pokemon, Reprint Pokemon, and special cards (i.e.: Time-Space Distortion, Charon's Choice, etc.)...these generally come 2-3 per box

depending on the Lv. X...these generally garner value of as low as $10 - as high as $40-$50...the Secret Rares aren't generally as valuable though, they normally garner value from about $5 - $25 (Charizard Reprint has been about the only one to get $25 though)

There are Commons, 6 per pack, Uncommons, 3 per pack, and rares, usually 1 per pack.

You always get 1 holo per pack, so occasionally you will get multiple rares.

When trading, this is good for cross-rarity trading.

3 commons= 1 uncommon

3 uncommons= 1 rare

2 rares= 1 LV. X, Reprint, or Rotom form other than the regular one.

Some of you are so off it isn't even funny.

In each booster, there is five common cards, three uncommon cards, one rare card, and one reverse holo card. The reverse holo can be of any rarity, sans Level X cards or non-Shiny Secret Rares.

There are also three types of "super" rares. The first one are Pokemon Level Xs. In sets before Legends Awakened, you found 1 of these in about every 36 packs. Since Legends Awakened, you usually find Level Xs one in every 18 packs.

The second type of ultra rare cards are Shinies/Rotoms. You usually find one of these in every 18 packs, and these take up the RH slot in a pack.

The third type of ultra rare cards are Secret Rares. You usually find one of these cards in every 36 packs. Secret Rares are cards of which their set number is past the numbers of cards in the regular set. For instance, Charmander SF is 101/100, Electabuzz is 128/127, Surfing Pikachu is 114/111.

Hope this helps. =D

can someone also explain all the types of holo/foil cards? I've seen some with just the pokemon's picture foiled and some with everything else foiled. I've tried googling it, but not really anything of use is coming up...

the ones with the picture holo, those are your rare holos, the only way to get one of those is to pull a rare that is set to normally be holo

the ones with the rest of the card foil instead of the picture, those are what is known as reverse holo...pokemon has been doing these since they first came out...these are a lil' more common, but are normally wanted more due to the overall shiny'ness of the card
