Cards to run with Samurott B/W

So if you've looked at my Raichu Prime thread, you've probably seen the discussion of Samurott (B/W) on there. I was looking around on the scans on the Pokebeach mainpage and I was disappointed at what little I noticed that would be a good tech. I think Feraligatr Prime with it could be decent, but I'm scared of running 2 Stage 2 lines anymore. Then there's Floatzel (UL), a decent stage 1, but that would require Shaymin. And of course there's the inevitable need of a Zekrom counter. No, please don't suggest Donphan because I am 1. Trying to make a rogue deck 2. I don't want to trade for/buy the thing. Any suggestions? Thanks!:p

Really the only thing with an advantage on Samurott are Magnezone and Zekrom, so a fighting Pokemon is good. Donphan is the obvious choice but if you don't want to use it you could try Gliscor UD, he can KO a Zekrom or Magnezone from full health without a pluspower, although he does need more energy.

Samurott is really only run with Donphan. Nothing else really counters Samurotts {l} weakness. If you can't use Donphan, Samurott is probably best as a Reshiram or Donphan tech.

A {f} Pokemon to take the revenge ko should be included, and Bouffalant can be a Zekrom tech.

Yea, I looked at all the legal sets and Gliscor is really the only thing besides Donphan that could work. I know I'd need 4 DCE to help Gliscor and Samurott. Anything that would make a particularly good tech?:p

well i actually made a ok deck with samurott pairing it with electrode and i didnt use feraligatr prime. I cant remember what i paired it with atm but maby try bravery (people say its not very good but i like it) or lanturn prime or through tornadus in there.

The problem is those two are also weak to electric. I think it can work with Gliscor, I'll try to get a dummy list up later for rating.:p

i tryed out gliscor a numerous amount of times, its a good idea on paper but not very good at all-if you can make it work please tell me because i just cant use it.

Ok. List would be something like this:

3-2-3 or 4-2-4 Samurott (BW-Ability)
3-3 Gliscor (UD)
Tech?

Staple Trainers and at least 3 Rare Candies

4 DCE
X Water & Fighting Energy

Tell me what you think and I'll have a list for the deck garage.:p

If you run 4 Twins in that deck you have a nice tank engine going, Tornadus might be a solid tech since it has synergy with Samurott's attack being {C}{C}{C} and it can 2HKO Donphan with the help of it's -20 {F} Resistance. I'm so excited that I really wanna build this deck, it seems really solid and fun as well. I believe Samurott/Electrode has a chance of being a dominating Rogue deck at Battle Roads this year but who knows.

Hmm... I like Tornadus as maybe a decent starter. It would be another way to take out Donphan too. I just wish there was a decent Fighting type that was Resistant to Electric while not weak to Psychic besides Donphan. How much are those things anyways?:p

Id say if you plan on running scizor prime, plan on running samurott for support.

Scizor Prime? Wha...the only matchup that helps is the Bearplume one and a 1-1 Dodrio tech means Samurott has nothing to fear there. Also, I don't recommend running Tornadus. Samurott is the best Donphan counter in the entire format, so using a weaker counter to Donphan doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'd run pokemon lines like this:

3-2-3 Samurott
3-3 Gliscor
1-1 Dodrio, but only if Bearplume gets popular near you
2 or 3 Mantine/Manaphy or even a split of the two

A 1-1 or even 2-2 Zoroark would help the Zekrom matchup even more, since right after a Zekrom uses Bolt Strike Gliscor would need to use his second attack to KO it, which might not be charged up turn 2.

I convienently have a 1-1 Zoroark. I will definetly add that. Is there anything that could speed up the energy besides Feraligatr because a Stage 2 tech would probably be inconsistent in a deck where the main attacker is a Stage 2? Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to see if Dodrio is needed.:p

only real energy speed up besides the usual gatr/boar is electrode prime. Since he can get you energies out fast on turn two, but... if you don't get energies with him you are screwed, but then you use twins and the world is balanced :) GL man with the deck. It seems like a fun idea

Thanks. Electrode Prime may work, I'll try it or maybe Feraligatr too if I can make it consistent.:p

Electrode Prime is alot better than Feraligatr Prime especially with Twins but with the new Luxray being released in the next couple of sets I'm not so sure how good Samurott will do. Thanks to Shell Armor given the setup Luxray will only be able to do 80 damage to Samurott leaving it with only 60 HP before it gets KO'ed which granted If you have enough Water Energies attached to Samurott with Electrode's Power should be able to take down Luxray with just 7 Water Energy attachments for Hydro Pump since it has 140 HP. Defender could be really good with Samurott in this case however Item Lock might hurt.

Zekrom of course is also still a threat as well but then again If you run a 2-2 Zoroark tech for Foul Play that should take care of that easily. Sad part is that Zoroark like Samurott would only survive 1 turn against Luxray unless it copies Crush with Foul Play to discard their attached Electric Energy with a Heads while dealing 80 damage. Even still a smart player running Luxray will most likely run a 2-1-2 or 1-0-1 Kingdra Prime line to counter against Donphan Prime so Zoroark is probably the better choice. Sure it's weak to Donphan however it goes toe-to-toe against Reshiram and Zekrom quite nicely in a prize exchange If you're willing to take the risk.

As to lightning counter, you could try one of these:
