Chandelure/DarkraiB/W-on

When I saw Andrew Wamboldt's Chandy/Darkrai EX deck that he used in Nationals, I really wanted to build it B/W-on. Then the Freeze Bolt/Cold Flare scans came out, and Escape Rope was a perfect fit for the deck. It really started to piece together until I had a full deck list. So, here's the deck!

Pokemon

3 Darkrai EX
3 Litwick (promo)
1 Lampent (Luring Light)
3 Chandelure (NVI)
1 Emolga (Dragons Exalted)
=11

T/S/S

4 Professor Juniper
4 N
2 Bianca
3 Ultra Ball
2 Level Ball
3 Dark Patch
4 Switch
4 Escape Rope
3 Pokemon Catcher
4 Rare Candy
2 Eviolite
1 Computer Search
1 Super Rod
2 Skyla
=39
Energy

10 Darkness-Basic
=10
The basic idea behind this deck is to pile as much damage as possible onto your opponents side of the field. The 4 Switch is so you can do Cursed Shadow and Night Spear on the same turn. Thanks!

RE: Chandelure/Darkrai/Dusknoir B/W-on

Chandelure places damage however you want, and Darkrai, while putting 90 on the Active, also snipes for 30 onto one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. So I'm not really seeing the point for Dusknoir. Even in a BW-on format, 2 Stage 2s with out any accelration (like Gabite in Garchomp/ Altaria) on getting them out minus Rare Candy is going to be hard, not to mention Dusknoir is Catcher bait. Dark Patch can't be all that useful, because it can only attach to Darkrai. I'm pretty sure you have a lot of Energy, even for a Darkrai variant, but that may just be me. I also think your Darkrais will be pretty vulnerable to Terrakion without Eviolite.

Now, since we want to maximize Cursed Shadow damage and still be able to use Night Spear, I would add more to the Chandelure line and Escape Rope. You also want to be able to get your Chandelures out quickly and consistently, so Skyla is a good choice because it can search out Rare Candy. Since Chandelure is weak to Darkrai, it will get Catcher- Ko'ed a lot, and you'll lose a lot when a Chandelure dies because a Litwik, Lampent/ Rare Candy, Chandelure, and Darkness Energy are all going to the discard pile. You'll want Super Rod to retreive the Pokemon and Energy. This Chandelure variant relies a lot on Items to set up and win, so Sableye is handy to retreive Level/ Ultra Ball, Rare Candy, Switch, Escape Rope, Catcher, and any other Item you want in your deck.

- 2-1-2 Dusknoir
- 2 Dark Claw
- 2 Darkness Energy
- 4 Dark Patch
- 13 total

+ 1-1-1 Chandelure
+ 2 Eviolite
+ 2 Escape Rope
+ 3 Skyla
+ 1 Sableye
+ 2 Super Rod

+ 13 total

I understand that you might not wanting to get get rid of Dusknoir. I understand this, but please just try out my suggestions. I hope I helped you! :)

RE: Chandelure/Darkrai/Dusknoir B/W-on

A Celebi Prime or two would be a great addition to this deck as it allows you to use Lampent's Luring Light to stall and shuffle around a bunch with Chandelure, so you can place damage counters too. I also agree with removing Dusknoir as Chandelure has the ability to place damage however it likes already, so moving them more seems useless and can be done with better foresight, which is a whole lot less clunky and inconsistent than a Dusknoir. Then I'd scrap the Darkness Claws too as Eviolite is generally more helpful to prevent OHKOs from Terrakion. So, something like:

-2-1-2 Dusknoir
-2 Darkness Claw
-7 total

+1-1-1 Chandelure
+2 Eviolite
+1-2 Celebi EX
+1-2 Super Rod

For other things to cut if you want to run 2 Celebi and/or Super Rod, you can probably cut energy or Darkness Patches as this variant will be using Luring Light too and doesn't need to Night Spear as often.

Wow, thank you so much for all the suggestions! I think that getting rid of Dusknoir is probably the right call. However, I think that Dark Patch is necessary to get the Turn 2 Darkrai so that the damage will pile up more quickly, I agree 4 might be a bit overkill. But all the rest of your change will be added. Again, thanks!

A Celebi Prime

I thought it was BW onwards?

While it might lower the consistency of the deck, have you considered Terrakion? I can't help but feel Darkrai could cause this deck a lot of problems.

Whoops Celebi EX. That's what I meant, as you can see in the changes I listed. Of course it won't be out right away, but since you were using Dusknoir then I figured it was meant for BW-FB/CF anyway.

Unless you are now playing in Japan, Computer Search most likely wont be available in the US for at least another 6 months or even more. The same applies with Skyla and Escape Rope.

I know. But, it will only be 4 months.

The thing that makes this deck work is Accelgor. So try adding a 2-2 Accelgor line with 4 Mew EX and 4 Double colorless.

Personally, I don't think that Accelgor is worth the extra space. But that's just me.

That would not be good in this deck, they won't be under trainer lock, so you can just Escape Rope or Switch out, besides, Accelock isn't good late game, or early game.
