But yeah... Weavile's cool. So? All those Pokémon actually deserve being loved. They're all amazing Pokémon that have been great in the TCG [Gardevoir RS/SW/ M Gardevoir, Machamp SF, Gengar SF/Lostgar/Gengar EX] or Pokémon that have been amazing in the VGC [Lucario, Gengar, Gardevoir, Suicune] or Pikachu. Charizard was Useless in the competitive VGC for almost 20 years. 20 years! It took them 17 years to make Charizard good! Gengar was an amazing Pokémon for all 17 of those years! Charizard just gets a free pass to any game or anime because it's Charizard! It's a big orange dragon from gen 1! the reason you can say
is because there's more and more people who didn't start with gen 1 [or FRLG] who don't have that connection to Charizard! I bet if charizard was introduced in ANY generation after the first 2 nobody would care for it! Why? Because it's a dull ordinary dragon that isn't actually a dragon! We had that with Dragonite! Charizard is honestly, the game's most OVERRATED Pokémon.
Following your logic, Weavile would be another Pokémon undeserving of any kind of love from Pokémon fans. And some other 'useless' Pokémon as well. But, every Pokémon has its own fans and people who love them, even though they aren't that good in battle (like Fearow or Pidgeot) or on the Pokémon cards (like the legendary birds). I don't want to bash on your opinion, but I think that what you said about Charizard could apply to any of the 'weaker' Pokémon in the game.
And also, while I am quite neutral about Charizard, I still think saying that it is a 'dull dragon' is unfair, considering Salamence doesn't have that much going for it either, because it, too, is a portrayal of an 'ordinary' european dragon. I know tastes differ and for me, simple designs are mostly the best because of their simplicity, hence why I love most of the Gen I designs and why I am not a fan of 'overdesigned' Pokémon like both alternate forms of Kyurem or most of the Mega forms. Again, this is my opinion and you are of course entitled to your own.
And also, I personally feel that some people only hate on Charizard because some others do. It's kind of like a reversed hype train, just some kind of trend that appeared recently that many people follow because it is 'in'. I don't really know if that applies to you, too, but judging by your reasons for hating Charizard, I'd say the odds are pretty high...
Btw, I didn't mean to offend you with this nor am I offended by you. As I said, I am neutral about Charizard (I am more of a Venusaur guy, anyways) and if I did offend you, then I apologize.
