Guys what do you think about Charizard decks this format? With the raise of dialga g, steelix prime and scizor prime, charizard can hit for weakness on many decks! Blaziken fb lv x is a great new tech in charizard, even infernape 4 lv x can be good. With kingdra not being as popular, charizard can only fear a very bad matchup against gyarados. So yeah what do you think about charizard and what are the pros and cons of the deck this format. Viable for competitive events? What other decks can abuse ninetales and typhlosion engine other then charizard?

Iv always thought of charizard as having a lot of potential....it works when setup....and can hit 100 for 1...but the consistency is a huge problem...yes the ninephlosion engine does work...but getting 4 stage.2s and 2 stage 1s every game is almost impossible..add to that the most no of basics you can play in this is 9-11,you cant keep hitting for high dmg :(

Personally I think the biggest threat Charizard has this format is Umbreon (HS Undaunted) cause Moonlight Fang is just very annoying to go up against especially when it's ran with Tyranitar Prime. My Zard deck lost to Tyranitar Prime/Umbreon most of the time because of Moonlight Fang, it's very hard to get around.

Luxchomp is the hardest matchup it has, Power Spray can cripple Ninetales easily thus presumably the rest of the deck itself. It does have problems against Gyarados since it now has Junk Arm and Rescue Energy to work with making it more devastating.

Despite it's flaws it's still a good deck to run, the only reason why Charizard loses to VileGar is because of Fainting Spell from Gengar SF but If they don't get the heads for the KO you're good to go. I can see Flygon RR abusing Ninetales and Typhlosion Prime but not much else however it's only a halfway decent deck at best.

^ A big problem is that it requires a fairly large amount of set up. Decks like Chenlock and Sablelock have a field day with Charizard (first hand experience :/).

As for the Umbreon matchup, it is actually quite easy to tech against. You can either splash in a 1-1 Infernape 4 X line, or add in the non prime Typhlosion from HGSS. It hits for 120 and has a retreat of 1. Works wonders.
