CISPA The New Internet Censorship Bill...

Yeah it looks like the U.S. Congress is at it again folks, they are trying to sneak in
a bill very similiar to SOPA/PIPA into law and it's just now recently getting public attention...

http://www.examiner.com/progressive-in-portland/cispa-congressional-plan-to-censor-internet-concerns-critics

On a different forum I was surfing through, it turns out that Arizona is also trying to pass an Internet Censorship law as well. More details below:

http://www.technolog.msnbc.msn.com/technology/technolog/arizona-law-would-censor-internet-631407

Whether or not If the Arizona bill is as dangerous as the CISPA bill that Congress is trying to pass through is up for debate I suppose.

I hope congress realizes that if they want to censor the internet their pretty much going to have to censor 90% of it

Something tells me this will go the same route as SOPA/PIPA (in the sense that everyone will rant and rave over it, then it will ultimately get shelved). On the off chance it does pass, the US government is going to be extremely hard pressed to sort through everything just to get things that they can use against people. Just saying...

This isn't good. While I live in Aus I don't want this. They are going to censor anything remotly bad. Funny YouTube Videos down the drain. No one wants this.

Honestly, I'm tired with all the attempts Congess is making here to censor the internet. Nearly every single person in the US thinks that we are the only country that matters, and Congress is like that too. We think we have complete control over all internet over the entire world, and they don't understand it doesn't work like that. They're trying to ban whatever they're banning (tl;dr'd the articles), and its so easy to get around it. Just go to a foreign website or something. It will do nothing to stifle internet 'crimes' or whatever they're going at, and its way too hard to regulate. Could you imagine how much effort it would be to remove all copywritten material there is out there? It would be physically impossible. I have a feeling that nothing like this is ever going through, and we should stop making such a big deal about it.

I agree with Imakuni?

Governments should quit tampering with or trying to change the natural balance of the Internet. All it's gonna do is get people real pissed.
Besides, it's pretty much impossible to censor the Internet as a whole. People still kill other people, even though there's a law against it.
People are going to troll and be part of a fandom, even if there's a law against it. Suck it up government, IT'S NEVER GOING TO WORK

Gah not another one.

Senate is blind to what people want. A bit of censorship is good, not way too much.

I haven't read the report yet so I can't claim to have made a solid judgement, but to me this comes across as some sort of exhaustion technique. Keep on trying to pass a series of similar bills until the public gets bored and one finally passes.

Ugh...again? When will Congress realize this is futile and that there will always be people who will stand up and fight?

They can't always try this, because censoring all of the Internet is pretty much impossible, as stated above.

On the only thing slimmer than the manifestation of slim chance that this passes, it could create a lot of new jobs.
Minimum wage for just comparing copyright? It'll get em' off the street and you can work at home!

Then again, everyone will hate you so I'm not sure if it's the best job in the world...

This is a no-win situation really. You could get a possible job, but the repercussions you could suffer are way worse than the time you may have suffered through unemployment.

Really? Just really? Seriously, I've had enough of this. Just like Imakuni? said, it's gonna be physically impossible to censor the whole Internet. Just think about it, how many websites are there that contain all of this? They already took down Megaupload once and it's because of them I couldn't watch my favourite anime. And they are now attempting to censor the internet as a whole?

Bravo, the last thing we need is a project like this. Bravo, CISPA. In your dreams.

It would destroy more jobs than it would create, think of all the people on Youtube alone that get money for making gaming videos, and thats what will happen because the government just flat out is not smart.

You do realize there's other sources of watching your favorite anime right? Of course YouTube isn't the best one however If you browse hard enough you'll eventually find what you're looking for. Just Google it...

I've searched it time to time and nothing shows up. It's either not available at all, or it's taken down.

It really depends on what Anime Series you're watching from what I understand. I haven't had too many problems watching One Piece, Bleach, and I found a good source for the new Avatar series on Nickelodeon called The Legend of Korra and so far they only aired 2 teaser episodes of it until they kickstart it for real.

Sure it might not be your cup of tea however If an Anime series is hugely popular in Japan with Subs then you have a better chance of watching episodes for it online compared to a less popular series with bad sources. I think I've noticed lately that I had recent trouble watching the Pokemon Anime English Dubs. Shouldn't be too much trouble...

I'm considering a subscription to Hulu If things keep getting worse from here on out...

I do understand that there is a lot of jobs that are at risk with these kinds of bills, I'm just not even roughly sure how many that are at risk. Could it compare to the amount of people needed to help bring down all the copyrighted material?

Also, I just wanna say I'm not supporting this.

The only things worth saving on the internet are things that hardly anyone even knows about. The internet to about 80% of people is all memes, adult physical education fun-time, anime, anime, video games, and facebook. The internet is no better then TV when it comes to putting people into a bubble from the rest of the world.

Meh the other 2 failed, so hopefully third time isn't a charm. I don't understand why they want to censor the internet. There would be like nothing on the internet, and back to the books we go. Are they trying to limit our freedom to surf the web? Probly. IDKY.

Welp, time to get a list of DNS's that aren't in the US so I can browse like usual.

... actually, joking aside, maybe I should in case the government pulls a fast one.
