This is a thread for discussing old coins or foreign coins or showing off your collection!

My favorite coin in my collection is my uncirculated 1901 Great Britain Penny. It's in very good condition, but the case is very scratched.

Sorry for the sideways pictures, my camera was burnt out so I had to use my iPhone. =/

I have a small collection and have also completed the Boy Scout merit badge, bu I have nothing realto show off I guess I have 7 or 8 Indian head cents (US).

I collect collect pennies. My collection starts at 1857 and goes to the mid 90s.
I am still missing about 10 or so to complete it but I am close.

What denomination of them do you collect? Also, do you just collect by the years or by the years and lettering?

I've recently acquired a new beauty for my collection!

These are 1 cent coins and I collect by year. There are 2 or 3 years that are very rare with low mintage. I don't have the budget to finish my set I wish I could. The coins are getting tougher to find other than ebay.
The 1856 I will probably never buy. If you can find one it's about 20k. Very rare with less than a few hundred known to exist. Only a few thousand were minted.

Whoa, my collection suddenly seems so small compared to yours. I only have some jars, one filled with a bunch of 70s stuff (some half dollars =D), one with dollar coins (got two sacgawea ones), foreign coins in a jar, one tiny box filled with wheat pennies, and another with 60s coins.

I collect many U.S. coins, and some Canadian as well.

U.S.:

-Buffalo Nickels (1913-1938)
-Jefferson Nickels (1938-Present)
-Roosevelt Dimes (1946-Present)
-Washington Quarters - America the Beautiful Program mainly (2010-2021)
-Ike Dollars (1971-1978)
-S.B.A. Dollars (1979-1981, 1999)
-Sacagawea Dollars (2000-2008)
-Native American Dollars (2009-Present) - I have a complete set until the new ones come out next year
-U.S. Mint Proof Sets

Canadian Coins are to a much lesser extent as I have little to no means of purchasing such items, but I will get a a Set or some circulated coins if I have a bit of extra money at the end of a coin show.

I will try to post a couple of pictures later this week.

With ebay it seems coins are much easier to obtain. There are very few coin shops in my area so I am forced to buy most everything online. Fakes are out there, but if you know what to look for that isn't an issue.
As for the coin collecting I have been doing that for almost 20 years so yeah it didn't happen over night.
I don't think I will ever stop collecting. I would like to get into the proof sets or gold coins I think they look neat but the cost is fairly high considering how much the price of gold is now.
