these cards came straight from the booster pack messed up.

anyone else get cards like this?
 
dratz. But error cards happen more often than they should. I think there were some team rocket seties cards that were really bad. Usually the error is an off-set cut. I've never seen that kind of misprint.
 
i have a HGSS caterpie just like that. it has a huge blue blob up near the name going all the way to half way through the picture...its awesome.

base set was the best one for errors. also jungle set
 
^^I know 1st edition, thick 1st edition symbol 1st editions, shadowless, unlimited prints, 4th printings. then error cards like ninetails that did no damage and all vulpix's having the HP 40 instead of 40 HP. or did it have 50? either way, the HP was on the wrong side of the # value.
 
^ i have a bunch of those vulpix's. i wish there were more error cards. its so awesome when you get one because your excited that you have somthing that they messed up on.
 
Yeah, I got a pair of TR Aipom in a PR, they had a G printed over the start of the word Imitate, a W over Tail, as in Tail Punch, and they switched the Punch with Runch. So I could use Gmitate, and Wil Runch.

@ carlitosbob & catutie: Yes, Vulpix "HP40" Base Set was the error card. However, the "40HP" Vulpix correction is much more rarer than the "HP40" error card. Team Rocket had a bunch of error cards like Dark Arbok -1999 to 23000 copyright!- WOTC had a lot of optimistic outlooks on the future.

Back on topic:
Does it feel wet or anything? Otherwise it's just an printing/inking error like Synth_ said. Would these be valued a lot or not so much?
 
omg!!!! I just noticed my dark arbok was the misprint. Lol.. I got it when it came out too... All these years trying to trade it off... Lol

back on topic, if you place mime jr to the left of donphan, it looks like the blot would line up. So it's def a printing error.
 
i have a bunch of the regular vulpix too :D lol. also i have that arbok holo. i have alot of error cards. it wouldnt feel wet. by now the card would have been drying for a week or more. the card was over inked or under inked.
 
my guess is that it was the top of the stack of cardstock and had a QA sticker on it that was removed, but left enough residue to make the ink not stick the way it was supposed to. or something along those lines. just cuz of the uniform shape of it
 
@ Everyone, for the record, the Vulpix has 50 HP, just saying... Also cards like these aren't completely unusual, I have a friend who has a Solrock kinda like this, except it is a strip of Holo, I'll keep my eye peeled for cards like these, they might be of higher value. I'd hold onto them, there are a lot of misprint collectors out there. Another thing not so related, there is suppose to be a misprint Phanpy in the set where they spell its name wrong, so I guess this set has a lot of mistakes.

the Correct one is harder to get of the vulpix? and which Dark arbok has the error? foil, rare, both?

on topic: YAY MISPRINTS lol. that looks like a printing error.

I also have 2 Reverse holo "PhanPhy"s lol. I traded for them at the pre-release
