Hey there everyone, My name's Andrew and I want to get back into the game.
I haven't played in a year after not liking the format and I know the basic staples are:

N
Bianca
Cheren
Juniper
Super Rod
Ultra Ball
Heavy Ball
Level Ball
Rare Candy
Double Colorless Energy
Switch
Dark Patch
Dark Claw
Evolite
Energy Retrevial
Pokemon Catcher

So I was wondering what were the best starter decks to pick up to get staple cards?

[I.e. I know 2 Zekrom Starter + 2 Noble Victories Knight Starters Builds Zeels]

So Right now I'm thinking of getting
1 Dark Explorers Zoroark Deck
1 Noble Victories Knight Starter
1 Zekrom Starter

are there any other decks with things Like Pokemon catcher which are harder to find cards? Thanks in advance.

Buying singles will be like 5x cheaper than getting them through starter decks. Singles are the way to go if you want to get the cards as cheaply as possible.

You'll have to bite the bullet and buy Catchers straight up. It'll cost you about 40 for the playset.

Mewtwo-EX, Darkrai-EX, Rayquaza, and a few other cards are super-expensive, but none of them are complete staples. You'll need one of the three in most decks though.

Well its a little hit and miss, the reason why I was going to buy all 3 starters is because on TNT all together for all the cards I want inside the starters is cheaper to buy them that way than just pure singles, and It'd be cheaper to buy the missing singles and the starters, than just the singles by themselves.

Yeah I know Darkrai etc. is Big, but I'm just going to wait for the tins in September.

Agreeing with Celebi to buying singles, but Darkness Claw and Energy Retrievals are NOT staples-they're not even run in any decks. DCE is also not really a staple; there are many decks that don't run it.

Energy Retrevial is going to be run in Emboar when Fisherman leaves the format.

Emboar isn't a popular deck at all though; its really not metagame, and even if it were its only one deck so it isn't staple.

Emolga and Giant Cape will be needed if you plan on running Stage 2 Decks. They help out a lot.
