Lets take a look at this otter thing.

Okay, right away you see its HP, a whopping 140. 160 with E-belt. It can endure a load of stuff, obviously excluding Luxray, but I'll get to that later. So let's analyze this card. As I said 140 HP, which is a lot obviously. Then lets scroll out eyes down a bit to the Poke-Body, errr Ability thing, Shell Armor. It says, "Any damage done to this Pokemon by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). This identical to Donphan Prime's Exoskeleton. So it is basically a Defender all the time.

Now let's look a little lower to its one and only attack, Hydro Pump. It has a Base Damage of 70, and it says, "Does 10 more damage for each {W} energy attached to this Pokemon. So if you have 3 {W} attached to it, it does 100. 3 energy cost is a bit much, but nothing that can't be fixed. One way is Feraligatr Prime. Its Poke-Power lets you attach as many water energies from your hand as you want per turn. It's a Stage 2, so a little hard to set up, but not impossible. I'm sure there are more cards that can let you attach energies, but I'm too lazy to do any research.

And finally the last part of this article, the bottom part of the card. The Weakness and Retreat Cost. Weakness hurts. Luxray gets this thing. But wait, remember the Ability? So he can endure one hit by Luxray if we're lucky and he isn't belted. And last but not least, the Retreat Cost. {C}{C} is average for a Stage 2, but it hurts. Can be helped with some cards like Unown Q and Dodrio.

So what do you think? Is Samurott coming to the Meta? Or will it get crushed by Luxray and the others?

I'm sketchy on this card right now. One thing that Donphan does have over Samurott is speed. 80 for 1 compared to 120 for three at a price of setting up two Stage-2's is just better. Donphan also gets better a better weakness and resistance than this card. At the same time, against Luxchomp, it's much easier for your opponent to KO your Samurott that's setting up. Bright Look/Dragon Rush the Oshawott or Futachimaru (Dewott) forces you to have to setup another one, and the same goes to Gatr (it also kinda sucks have Gatr as the Active Pokemon).

Luxray isn't going to be a problem for this card IMO, if you think about it E-Belted, it would require Luxray to deal 180 Damage for the OHKO, that means a Trash Bolt will only hit for 120, which mean it would require 6 Bats drops to get the OHKO. This card has simply never occurred to me, I think I like it though, DCE would be the best way to power this up quickly as opposed to Feraligatr, however the fact that it can not easily one shot SP's without three water + E-Belt really bothers me. I think this card could make it as a tier 3 deck or so if you play your cards right.

Meh. It's ok, could make a decent-ish rogue when played well.
For your articles, you should try, not bolding stuff. It doesn't really help to make a point, it kinda just looks bad.

I too plan on making a deck out of Samurott. Its been on my list since B/W came out in Japan (along with Galvantula, Emboar, and Serperior). I have a few decks that mostly consist of the B/W sets. I just need them now lol.

I like his Ability. Makes him usefull against most things. Plus he can OHKO Donphan if set up T1-T3. With Feraligatr Prime, he will be beast. I will use him. :D. His retreat is ALOT better than Donphans.

Keep up the articles. I like seeing potential cards for the next format.

This is a nice card. However, it is not self-sufficient with the amount of energy it needs.

Yes you can pair this with Gatr for faster impact and more damage. You can drop six water right on it and in one turn do 130 if you can get that many.

However, Gatr can be paired with many things like Blastoise, Lanturn, and Wailord. All of which I like better then this.

I agree but with rotation coming up fire pokemon will be the deck to play thanks to emboar. So with that being said Samurott might be playable. His ability is nice hp is nice but he is slow. You dont want two pokemon with the same weakness in the same deck

No offense but in terms of playability Serperior and Emboar are so much better in terms of Abilities, a {R} Pokemon that works like Rain Dance and a {G} Pokemon that removes a damage counter from each of your Pokemon inbetween turns.

Yeah I'd take either one of those over Samurott which only prevents 20 dealt to it, 30 with Defender after being discarded unless they're going to errata it like they did with PlusPower.

I've looked at Samurott repeatedly, and I think it has a good potential. Feraligatr is there to make up for the slowness, and once the rotation comes, there's a good chance the SP engine or Luxray itself will be taken out. Either way, it would be a huge blow to the metagame. What else can OHKO Samurott now anyways?

IMO, if you wanna do 100 a turn, at least use Blastoise. It snipes, giving you easy KOs. No, it doesn't have the extra bulk, but the snipe is great.

Mandibuzz can snipe just as good but only half the damage for 1 energy with some backup from Tyranitar Prime with Darkness Howl. It's an awesome bench spread combo.

It's an ok card, as stated in the above posts the Fire and Grass starters are better than this card. I would also like to point out that Luxray Lv.X isn't this card's main threat, but I believe that Zekrom is. The reason is that Zekrom can do a total of 220 damage to Samurott and that's after it's ability has already done it's job. Not only can it take down Samurott with little trouble but it's also a basic that can be set up in one turn with the help of Pachirisu (COL).

I see this guy as a tech card more than anything else, a splashable 70 for 3 water type w/ 140 HP and an ability of -20 damage is too good not to be played but Zekrom decks make this guy cry so that's why i see him as a tech.

I think in the next format splashing stage 2s as techs is largely going the way of the dodo, as a turn, a search, and a rare candy is a bit too much to spare most of the time. It still has possibilities, possibly in Blastgatr, possibly in off-colour decks that need a fire/donphan counter, but I believe it's just straight-up too slow to do the latter. It's got potential but I don't see it as a seriously competitive card.
