It's that time of the week finally where TDL gets off his lazy butt and tries so hard to promote activity.

What is one of / are some of your favorite cores to use in this current metagame and why? How does the core work?

I use this core:

The resist everything but Fire(halved in rain), Dark and Ghost.

and the scouting core:

The one core works good with the other and they allow me to cover everything.

My favorite core is Heatran/Slowbro/Tangrowth. It's a good old GWF core and it resists everything except rock, and the only shared weakness is bug. It's a great core for defensive based teams.

Ferrocent. Two great supporting team members who cover each others' few weaknesses (Ferro resists ghost, grass and electric and Jellicent resists fire and is immune to fighting; ground and flying are the only two types with neutral coverage against these two). Jellicent stops spinners from removing hazards that ferrothorn just put down.

Ferrocent is a solid defensive core. Not only do their typing match up almost perfectly (lots of synergy), but they fit very well with their roles. Ferrothorn sets up hazards, and Jellicent keeps them up. Most fighting types that trouble Ferrothorn are dealt with by Jellicent (except Scrafty and Payback Conkeldurr).

For an offensive core, its impossible to ignore Dragon+Magnezone, with Dragonite, Haxorus and Salamence being very common dragons in that spot. Magnezone traps and kills all of the steel-types that resist Outrage, and then the Dragon can sweep with Outrage. Its very basic, but very effective.

I really like the Gastrodon-Heatran-Skarmory anti-weather core popularised on Smogon. Might try out Gliscor over Skarm presuming I have a satisfactory answer to Landorus somewhere else on the team. I've been using Leftovers on Heatran, but maybe Balloon is now the better choice what with Dugtrio becoming more commonplace on Sun teams.

Scizor-Rotom is a very good offensive core and I really go out of my way to mess it up lol

Tyranitar/Celebi seem to work good together. You can EV Spread both of them to be either Offensvie (like I did with CB Tar + NP Celebi) Or Defensive.

Scizor/Wash Rotom is lol. Together they pretty much troll all of OU Except for Lum Berry Dragons and HP Fire Latios.

Ferrothorn/Heatran/Wash Rotom or Jellicent are great for either Offensive or Defensive combos. Fire/Water/Grass has always been solid.

and last but not least, Gliscor/Gastrodon. Type coverage might seem questionable, but they troll OU really well. This was more popular when Thundurus and Excadrill existed in OU, but I still felt it was worth mentioning.

Actually, I've been runing Gliscor-Gastrodon-Heatran because I dont know why but, I cant use Skarmory the way everybody else can. I dont think I have the strategic thinking a normal stall-based player does. I've been trying to use a FerroCent core, because I'm trying to use stall in a way I haven't been able to reach in the past. Gliscor-Gastrodon-Heatran doesnt have any specific weaknesses that you can see. Once you build around that core its hard to beat because all the support and then you put a sweeper or 2 on the team and it can be a major threat. They all have their own builkiness one of a kind one might say but, they all have those vulnerable weaknesses that will destroy this core. I have to go out of my way to beat this core with WashTom-Scizor? : )

I generally find that Jirachi/Tyranitar/Scizor are obligatory 4th place Pokemon with regards to the Gliscor/Gastrodon/Heatran core. You kinda need a solid Reuniclus counter because it sets up no problem against Gliscor and Gastrodon. Landorus with HP Ice is also a major threat to it, but you can minimise the chances of being caught off guard by that through using Protect Gliscor I suppose.

the team I always use that seems to work has an offensive core of Salamence and Conkeldurr I also throw in a ferrothorn for some bulk then I scout out things with darmanitan while gastrodon takes care of rain and Milotic is surprisingly good for handling set up sweepers
