Woah, woah, WOAH. I thought we were Congratulation Glaceon, not arguing about age limits and the work required to become a mod....
Glaceon will be sad because his promotion thread has become filled with arguing.... I feel bad for him.

This isn't bad discussion. It is discussing what it take to be a lasting Mod

When we decide who becomes a moderator, it is something that all of us discuss. It is about who is best qualified for the position. It isn't ultimately about age. We do what we feel is the best decision for PokeBeach.

yuup, sure.

As a note to mods, instead of trying to prove that you are right simply because you have a colorful name, why don't you try and fix what you are doing badly. This means, in my opinion:

1) MORE STAFF COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS. Many, many people enjoy these forums and when you make a decision without consulting their opinion on it at all, they tend to get angry when you don't listen to them. This goes the same for when you are deciding to mod people, who should at least get some say in the matter. I think that would result in better, longer lasting mods.

2) Try and see into the future and simulate what the same mod you're modding now will do the same thing in a year's time. I'm not saying that ALL of these predictions have to be right, but at least make more of an effort. I'm going to list off all the people who were mods from the time I started here to now.

King Arceus
omahanime
PMJ
Pride
Shining Raikou

s-mods are fine, I'm not saying that I agree with their points all the time, but at least they're steady. But their decisions conflict with the rest of the moderating team a lot.

AtI
Chariblaze
Futa
Mudkip
Shakespeare
Xous

These are among the better of the staff, but everyone else has been shuffled around, demodded, remodded and banned in the 2 years that I've existed here. This is not a good thing, staff.

3) No more getting out of situations by banning someone that doesn't agree with you and not fixing anything. I've seen this happen too many times in the past and when we try and give you guys helpful input, you just shrug it off, ban whoever is trying to suggest it half of the time for a stupid reason to make it look like it wasn't like that.

Mods, you don't have to be right about every single issue we have here, I would appreciate it at least once if you simply admitted that you made a mistake and just fixed it, no arguing, no bickering. Everyone can't be perfect, but you try and bend the rules about everything so it looks like you are. Don't get me wrong, some of the mods are actually pretty good, but those of you who aren't and actually act like this know who you are. This is a reason why some of the other Pokemon forums look down on us, is our ability to choose mods from the bunch, that and our relative noob magnet community, as some call it.

I do hope you will take this into consideration. Thank you for reading.

Members have never selected staff. If we did that, it could easily turn into a popularity contest where each person votes for their friends instead of who is more qualified.

Have you noticed anything I've done since I got modded?

I have a stuck thread where I tell members exactly what I'm doing. I'm 100% open. If you want to know something about what my plans for the TCG section, just ask. 99% of the time I'll tell you. The only time I won't is if it's not my idea and/or I'm instructed otherwise.

I've made 100% effort. Everybody who has been modded since I got s-modded has done a good job in my opinion. Not that that says a lot, I've only been s-modded for about a month. But still, give me a chance.

I haven't ever banned a single person since my modding.

Point out something I'm doing wrong, and (provided I agree) I'll fix it.

I already a did a long time ago.

My post doesn't address the rest of the staff since I'm still fairly new to the team and don't know enough to make any definite statements about everybody else. However, I haven't seen any big issues with anybody since my modding.

Alright guys, take all talk of problems with pb moderation or the direction of pb to the What Can Be Done to Improve PokeBeach Forums? thread. The entire point of this thread is to congratulate Glaceon.

Congratulations to Glaceon. I don't know you that well, but I hope we can fix that as fellow moderators. And lol at the members complaining about modship. I thought you guys were better than that. I honestly did.

we are better than that
we have tons of members that areready to back us up, and i just had an arguement as it is. I think we have an idea what we're doing

Talking to us on Skype will also work. I'm usually on until just before 9 CST.

I will admit, my post was not aimed at you as much as some others. You have a thread about what you're doing with the TCG section? Great, I salute you for that, its a lot better than what the VG section and the Forums as a whole have. To be completely honest, I don't have many complaints about you, you have done a good job on moderating, I just don't follow the TCG side of things which is why I don't know about your skills as much as others. You write articles I've seen on the Portal, which means you are being a productive mod on the front that you are trying to improve the TCG level of the forums. I can't really argue with that.

Members have never selected staff. If we did that, it could easily turn into a popularity contest where each person votes for their friends instead of who is more qualified.
I know that this should not be a popularity contest and it shouldn't. I never said it was. I was not suggesting that we should have it completely open voting, the staff would still have reign over the whole thing. For instance, if everyone came together and voted that sonicmoj or something should be a mod, then it would obviously be rejected. But members at least need a recommendation center or something, we should not be disregarded during the decision process.

First of all, anything with voting sucks.

Second of all, this has been my mistake before (generalizing when I was complaining about staff) but after a few months I realized generalizing the entire staff for the "incompetence" of some is just unfair. Which is why I resorted to calling out certain mods before. I know I used to be a heavy critic of Steadfast before. (everyone should have known that by now)

As for the reommendation center, it's a good idea with a certain amount of flaws such as people could recommend left and right and get even angrier when their recommendations are rejected.

The problem with everyone in society is that we expect change overnight and that is impossible. You have to admit that both the TCG and VG forums have at least tried to bring prestige back. I can't entirely speak for the VG side because that's not where my specialties lie but as for the TCG, since the time people like Gale and Celebi were modded, the TCG section has gone a step forward, It's not as fast of a change as most people want but it's still a step forward and we can advance more given more time.

^ this. This thread is meant to congratulate people, I think arguing here is kind of rude to the members we are commemorating.

Anyway, enough complaining. Congrats Glaceon and Zorua! I don't spend too much time in the TCG section, but I'm sure you guys are doing a great job. I can't wait to work with Zorua on stuff also.
