The seventh generation console war started in 2005-6.
Now the first impression, was in 2005. The Xbox 360 was a total change, most of all because of the differences from its previous console. The Xbox360 had a greater controller than the original Xbox, wasn't so heavy and had less buttons. Then we have the new console design and the dashboard which is a new addition.
Then the PS3 came, of course the first edition was and is huge. Better graphics than PS2, a better controller IMO too, and Blu-Ray. Not only you can play Blu-Ray games, you can also play Blu-Ray disc movies. The PSN is free, which is awesome, but it is not the superior network since Xbox Live is way better.
The Wii comes out and the console gets bigger for most of people that do not know what the Wii did. A motion sensor gameplay is actually the most awesome way of playing, for having fun. Of course this is more likely a family console. Still, we have some games that are all hardcore. And there are some violent games. For example No More Heroes. So this console might enter in a category splitted in two. Family and basic hardcore.
Personally I like the three of them, although I haven't been much on Xbox 360 or the PS3. I am having an Xbox360, and believe me PS3 was an option, that I deleted as soon as knowing the price of the games here. What ya believe?
