Apparently, like Furfrou, Pikachu is getting different forms based on fashion. Hopefully this time they won't revert back when you take them out of your party.

One thing I don't get, is why are all the Pikachu female? Who would want a manly-wrestler styled female Pikachu?

that might just be the advertisement.

Unless the Pikachus are actually given to us, then its more likely it could be our own one in whatever gender (which seems logical).

Hopefully we can put accessories on other Pokemon... making it Pikachu exclusive seems sucky.
Hopefully we get something for the starters and other popular Pokes.

RE: Different Pikachu Forms!

... they are costumes, not forms...

RE: Different Pikachu Forms!

Every single picture of the Pikechu's show them in Pokemon Ami, so I doubt these are actual forms that can be used in battle.

RE: Different Pikachu Forms!

I am waiting to see if this is a new thing for every Pokemon and not just Pikachu/cute little Pokemon
Because petting Giratina in Poke'Amie was funny but Madam Giratina is just epic

Yeah, but Furfrou's fur cuts are like costumes too and they're considered forms.

Plus, by that logic, Rotom's forms are just costumes too, as Rotom's appearance changes when it's in a fridge.

A butch maybe? Perhaps this is the aftermath of "Tomodachi Life" LGBT issues?

I can imagine Mewtwo, Groundon and Yveltal suddenly going on a rampage of destruction after wearing a skirt!

PS: I can totally see Ash turning into "Ashley" along with Pikachu wearing those costumes in the anime!...And also his Oshawott and Dawn's Piplup!! :D

RE: Different Pikachu Forms!

Hard rock and Masked Pikachu actually made me like that obnoxious rat a little bit more

RE: Different Pikachu Forms!

Actually, I think that these forms are there to promote contests. Notice their designs and names. Madame Pikachu looks very elegant and has a beautiful name, thus the beauty characteristic. Hard Rock Pikachu has a very tough name and design. Idol is cute, Doctor is smart, and Masked is cool. What I find more interesting is that they are all shown in Pokemon Amie. I wonder if there is some connection with Amie and Contests. Based on the pikachu, it seems likely.

Based on the colors, though, I'd switch Hard Rock and Masked. Hard Rock features red on the eyebrows and jacket (cool), while Masked's mask wrestling uniform has a yellow-orange color (tough).

Fair point. That actually makes much more sense. But you get the idea.

Furfou doesn't have formes. It has "trims". (And Vivillon has "patterns" that can't be changed.)
Blob pls. Rotom has real formes. Rotom changes its type based on its forme and gains access to one attack it otherwise can't learn. It also gets more base stats.

These aren't even changes to the Pokémon (Pikachu). They are simply costumes. Or do you change formes when you use other clothes? wtf

Furfrou can be groomed in Friseur Furfrou for 500 PokéDollars, altering its appearance. There are ten known different trims that are unlocked gradually as the player becomes more stylish. These trims will only last five days after the player has groomed the Pokémon, or until the player deposits it in the PC. Unlike true form changes and physical variants, Furfrou's trims are not registered in the Pokédex.

OK, then what about Burmy and Wormadam's forms? They've been called forms before and Burmy changes it depending on the location, which then reflects Wormadam's type (if it's female).

RE: Different Pikachu Forms!

There are pictures in the Coro Coro scans in the Front Page News Article. :) I'm also going to change the topic title of this thread so it isn't as misleading; we don't really know anything about this at the moment aside from that it's costumes that are visible in Pokémon Amie.

The forms determine what type of Wormadam a female Burmy will evolve into, so they do have a practical application. If the cloak it was wearing didn't have some sort of effect on it eventually, then it probably wouldn't be considered a different form.

RE: Different Pikachu Costumes in Pokémon Amie!

I really hope that this doesn't just apply to Pikachu, even though it probably will.

Who doesn't want a cute Tyranitar in pink ballerina costume?
Or a hard rock Skitty?

Hard rock Simisage for me, please!

Wormadam has cloaks. The difference is not only in appearance, but also types, movepool and base stats (Atk/Def/SpA/SpD). Burmy has cloaks that affect evolution.

RE: Different Pikachu Costumes in Pokémon Amie!

I already wrote my speculation in some news thread:

Mitja said:
I'm pretty sure this Pikachu (regular Pikachu does not have a black heart shape on the end of its tail) is going to be a special Pikachu, similar to Spiky-eared Pichu (also featured for in remakes, although minor and event-only)

We will probably obtain a single one at some relevant point in the game (or as a wifi event at release), will not be able to evolve it, but unlike the Spikey-eared Pichu, this Pikachu will actually have some use with this cosplay gimmick or contests or whatever this ends up being.

And yeah it's really obvious that these 5 represent the 5 contest stats.
