Equinox has won 4 points for his counter. Say what you may, I have fought and used Cursed Venusaur, and it is effective and viable if you work with it. Choosing this over One Approved's because this set has good chance to set up on Keldeo.
One Approved has won 2 points for his counter.
Professor Palutena has won 2 points for his counter.
Scattered Mind has won 2 points for his counter.
Cinesra has won 2 points for his counter.
Round 23
Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 56 SpA / 200 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Iron Head
No Substitute? Is the Kyurem set weird or have I been away for too long? Probably the latter. Especially after seeing how hard this thing hits.
Also King Xerneas, take into account that the first Fusion Bolt will hit vanilla Metagross for greater damage. So, since in the turn you Mega Evolve Metagross retains the speed of its vanilla forme, Kyurem hits you twice in a row with Fusion Bolt and kills you in all (or almost all) scenarios.
252+ Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-B Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 152-179 (50.4 - 59.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-B Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Metagross: 134-159 (44.5 - 52.8%) -- 80.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
Assuming the best case scenario (and vanilla Metagross is outsped by Kyurem even in Jolly nature with max Speed investment), you take 50.4% on the switch, plus 6.25% from SR, plus 44.5% next round when you Mega Evolve, for a total of 101.15% minimum. Before you attack.
I originally thought of posting Bulky SD Scizor, but the situation it causes is quite delicate and I didn't wanna push it. However, the bloody thing is a huge pain. Even CB Scizor doesn't score a guaranteed KO... that is, against a Kyurem without Life Orb. But this Kyurem is just the thing.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Superpower
252+ Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-B Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 191-225 (55.6 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Kyurem-B: 360-426 (92 - 108.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
That 50% chance becomes 100% since Kyurem's HP drops to 90-91% after it attacks Scizor on the switch, due to LO recoil. That makes CB Scizor a guaranteed counter of this Kyurem set. Scizor is left at most with 32%, with the worst case scenario being 22%. However, being a revenge killer, CB Scizor can function much better than most other Pokemon at similar percentages and as such the sacrifice of so much health isn't as hindering.
Here's something a little more boring viable for you folks ;p
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
0 Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Kyurem-B: 342-404 (87.4 - 103.3%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
The most Powerful thing Kyurem-B can do back:
56 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-B Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 118-140 (33.5 - 39.7%) -- 21.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Wondered why the update hadn't gone up yet, and realized I saved it as a draft instead of posting.
Equinox has won 2 points for his counter. I love Ferrothorn, and this counters well, but Spikes are silly to have over Stealth Rock. (And the two attacks, but that could just be me.)
Chaos Jackal has won 4 points for his counter.
King Xerneas has won 0 points for his counter. You'd have to rely on them hitting minimum damage twice in a row in order to get a single attack off.
Scattered Mind has won 2 points for his counter. I would have chosen this as the winner, but I know Aggron is UU and am unsure of how well it works in OU.
Round 24
Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power Fire
Assume Diamond Storm raises defense every other use (starting with the first).
Round ends 3/21.
Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Hidden Power [Fire]
252 SpA Mega Diancie Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss: 94-111 (21.7 - 25.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
4 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 252 HP / 136+ Def Amoonguss: 166-196 (38.4 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
252 SpA Mega Diancie Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss: 120-142 (27.7 - 32.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
252 SpA Mega Diancie Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Amoonguss: 160-190 (37 - 43.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Diancie: 132-156 (54.7 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Mel Gibson Jirachi @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SpD / 36 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Body Slam
0+ Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Mega Diancie: 388-460 (160.9 - 190.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
At most Mega Diancie can do is 252 SpA Mega Diancie Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD Jirachi: 170-200 (42 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Mega Diancie Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD Jirachi: 112-134 (27.7 - 33.1%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
And at +1 Def:
0 Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. +1 0 HP / 0- Def Mega Diancie: 232-280 (96.2 - 116.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
Cinesra has won 2 points for his counter. Never been a fan of having to heal the moment you get out, I feel it causes a loss in momentum.
Scattered Mind has won 2 points for his counter. I love the calculations for this, but it is all the way down in RU.
Equinox has won 4 points for his counter. Can't argue with 4x weakness.
Round 25
Raikou @ Leftovers
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Extrasensory
Round ends 3/28.
Question for those playing: How long would you have this go on for? Do you think activity/interest is high enough to warrant more rounds?
252 SpA Raikou Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 91-108 (26.6 - 31.6%) -- 42.4% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 SpA Raikou Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 135-160 (39.5 - 46.9%) -- 36.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Tyranitar Earthquake vs. 32 HP / 0 Def Raikou: 282-334 (85.7 - 101.5%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
CS Tyranitar outspeed Raikou :]
I guess it's not the perfect counter since there is that paralysis chance..?
To your question: I think there is enough activity to keep going and as far as it concerns me I am very interested in more rounds! I guess you can do it once in 2 weeks instead of two so there will be more time for others to think and post a counter.
Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power Fire
- Recover
252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Earth Power vs. 32 HP / 0 SpD Raikou: 213-252 (64.7 - 76.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Leaf Storm vs. 32 HP / 0 SpD Raikou: 230-270 (69.9 - 82%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Celebi: 120-142 (35.1 - 41.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Raikou Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Celebi: 67-79 (19.6 - 23.1%) -- 16% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
Recover lets you live
Concerning your question I would say give it a few more rounds, I'll certainly participate!
[animate]chansey[/animate] @Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
Bold (calm technically counters better but Chansey's so fat it doesn't really matter)
4 HP/252 Def/252 SpDef
~Seismic toss
~Wish
~Protect/Softboiled
~Toxic
You technically have a lot of options for the last slot with stuff like Stealth Rock and Aromatherapy, but I like Toxic the most, it neuters Raikou for the rest of the game, and it also poisons whatever switches in for free unless your opponent has like Scizor or something.
Pretty simple, Mega Gallade can't hit Sableye, and if he switches out (which he must) his swap in takes either a Wisp or a Knock Off to the face. If for some reason he stays in, he dies slowly to Knock Off and it's own Sub Hp cost.
Although Mega Sableye is solid, and uses Mega Gallade as setup fodder, the key to this set is that it functions as both Prankster support that debilitates most of the physicals in the meta and most importantly reserves the Mega slot for something else, such as something with immediate presence, like Mega Metagross. Thought that would be something to point out since this is also about how the Pokemon in question functions on a team.
