Counters for Terrakion

Okay so I'm just a newbie again at the competitive play (i played two years ago then stopped) but I was just wonder if Zekeels has problems with terrakion still or has there been a good counter against it so far

I just have a shaymin ex counter but I've seen people say tornadous is better.

I was thinking what if you ran a 4-4-1 elektross from DE and have him bring up a terrakion that's being built up then return him to bench and finish the terrakion off with zekrom.

Again I'm a newbie so this is probably not a good idea -.- either way help is appreciated.

I think most zek-eel victories over terrakion have been because of zekrom EX, who can strong volt for 150 and KO terrakion.

the most used counter I saw as Virizon EP who can giga drain for 60 vs terrakion and stay alive to outlive terrakion.
Virizon NV could arguably be more useful, as it can D-draw on T1 for 2 cards or leaf wallop for 80 vs terrakion

Tornadus isn't that big of a help vs terrakion, as they can either play ruins of alph to turn off the resistance, or just catcher round it.

shaymin EX takes skill to play, as 110HP is extremely weak and 2 prizes is very costly, for something that will struggle to take more than 1. Late game it certainly helps, but it's too risky to be effective in zek-eels

regarding the eelektross, it's something you should definitely test in the next few weeks. You just have to consider if it's worth sacrificing the dynamotor for.

I think I'm gonna use virizion I just need to change the deck a bit. I made this deck list BW-on preparing for next year and decided that set list would be safe.

You don't need to counter it. Terrakion is annoying, but it usually puts your opponent into a bad situation. You can usually play around the tech.

Tornadus-EX. With an eviolite, all damage from Terrakion does 40 less damage making Tornadus easily 2 shot it. Also, Virizion with an Eviolite attached works great as a Terrakion counter in MTC. Leaf Wallop OHKOs Terrakion after you use it once.

Tornadus EX doesn‘t counter Terrakion. Seriously.

An Eviolited Tornadus EX takes four attacks from Terrakion to KO. 4 attacks for 2 prizes fits in their normal game plan of trading 2HKOs and taking cheap prizes off Catcher. Tornadus EX trades with Terrakions like it‘s a non-EX Pokemon in terms of prizes, so the only thing you gain from it is relative card advantage. Not to mention the risk of them getting some use out of that high Lost Remover count...

So, in short, a single Tornadus EX is not a Terrakion counter any more than Mewtwo EX is: serious threat? Yes. Hard counter? Not even close.

I definitely agree with this. It also helps Terrakion since they have more time to get ahead on energy attachments. The best way to beat it is with either Tornadus with Eviolite, Mewtwo OHKOing them, or Virizion (either one).

The 3 Energy one is the best. With an Eviolite, you only take 70 Damage from the second attack. Then, you use Giga Drain to heal 60 of that damage. You 2 Shot them (PlusPower assuming), and they end up like 5 Shoting you (I think).

What about using Bolt strike and plus power to OHKO Terrakion? Why do you need a tech? Just don't pull out Zekrom ex and you'll be fine. You have the energy acceleration and can continue to build Zekroms. Not to mention that you can use Mewtwo late game.

^ that. Don't even think about dropping Zek EX because it's two free Prizes if you do. If you do...then Eviolite him right now before you lose the match for yourself. I'm much more comfortable with Mewtwo EX X-Balling away because if my opponent wants to do anything, he needs two Energy. I need two Energy. So it's 80 damage aka a 2HKO. Chances are they'll play three Energy because I don't think they'll want to do 30 all day, so now you're doing 100 damage. I don't think you need to tech in anything specifically to counter Terrakion. Just use what you've got and don't make silly mistakes. :p

Not to mention that people are slowly ditching Zekrom ex for the normal version thus making Terrakion more redundant.

I really don't understand why people don't use common sense. Terrakion is so easy to deal with. It's a bad tech in the mirror and by itself is very poor. People act as though it's going to ruin your Zekeel's deck. Poor retreat, poor attacks and HP isn't great. Don't see the reason why people are so scared by it.

Terrakion + Eviolite is a force not to be reckoned with.

Except for the fact that Terrakions will almost always have EXP Share on them. Even with Eviolite it's not too hard for Mewtwo to 2HKO, but it is true that it prevents a Zekrom OHKO. If you're having that many problems with Terrakion, just play 1-2 Tornadus, and you should already be playing Eviolite.

Sarcasm?

The assumption made on Terrakion being played is that you'll be a prize up. If you can't OHKO it, it's fine. You'll just play a Mewtwo with a DCE and attack for 80-100. They will struggle to move the board around because of how clunky Terrakion is. They'll need to run loads of switch. As a result, they'll really struggle to continue to bring Mewtwos out constantly.

In my opinion, Mewtwo EX with an Eviolite is the best counter to Terrakion, especially in Zekeels. Terrakion struggles to get the Two-Hit KO and needs a lot of pluspower to do so, while Mewtwo can charge up with a DCE and from Eels on the bench to proceed to OHKO Terrakions like crazy. Zekrom EX is a free two prizes for Terrakion so that doesn't really work, and Tornadus EX ends up being an even prize trade. Shaymin EX is decent but only works well late game.
