Help Crobat/Seviper Poison Deck Ideas

Hey, newcomer to competitive here! I've been recently getting back into collecting the cards, which got me interested in starting to play competitive. I've never tried to make a competitive deck before, so I figured this would be the place to get some help. With burning shadows becoming legal soon, I was thinking of using a deck based around sevipers ability to increase poison damage, and crobat 4 damage counter poison attack. I'm not really sure what cards to use, besides what I've seen for some of the new possible standard cards (N, Sycamore, Etc.) and possibly the new toxicroak card as well. Any tips would be appreciated, and anything that could help me learn more about the game would be great.

One of the issues is that we are really close to cards rotating out of standard. Are you planning on playing Standard or Expanded?

I was planning on playing standard, doing some leagues that are near me. The whole rotation system was kind of confusing to me, so I didn't know if that would create an issue.

I don't think that the rotation should harm your idea for a deck at all. Were you talking about the Sun and Moon Crobat? It has Triple Poison, which is what I thought you were talking about.

As far as the trainers you should use, in standard format the following cards are going to be staples:
4 Sycamore
4 N
3 Guzma
2 Field Blowers
If Lele, 4 Ultra Balls
If not: Nest/Timer Balls

In a stage 2, one prize attacker deck like yours:
2-4 Rare Candy (Probably 2, Golbat's ability is nice)
3 Rescue Stretcher for recovering Pokemon that have been discarded or KOed

Traditional tool of choice is Choice Band, but since you might not actually be doing damage and only poisoning, go something else like maybe Poison Barb. 2-3

Max Potion is another card I'd consider since attacking for one energy is not bad to discard.

Those are your basic draw cards. If you have some cash in the bank, it may be worth investing in 2 Tapu Lele GXs, which are SUPER good for consistency and drawing. If you get those, you'll probably want to play a Brigette so you can get your basics out first turn.

For the Crobat Line, I'd go 4-4-4-1, with 3 Seviper. Just make sure that the pokemon would be KOed coming back to your turn.

Hope this helps and welcome to the world of Pokemon (TCG)!

There were some other cards I had in mind for the deck as well that I could use some opinions on:
-Toxapex GX (10 Poison Counters plus the Seviper could be a quick knockout)
-Altar of the Moon (If poison doesn't work, 120 damage from crobat every other turn)
-Toxicroak (80 plus another 80 for poison)
-Flareon (Not my top pick, but considering metagross gx it could be very helpful as a counter)

If you tried to play Toxapex-GX with Crobat, it would be WAY too clunky. Toxapex + Seviper could be a deck on its own, but you wanna stick with one main evolution line you wanna focus on.

Altar of the Moone isn't necessary. Golbat and Crobat have free retreat. :)

Same with Toxapex-GX, Toxicroak would be clunky. If you wanted to play Toxicroak, I would play it with something that didn't need to attack to poison, like Salazzle.

And I do not think that there will be a Flareon in standard after the rotation this September 1. So if you wanted to play expanded, I guess it could be an option. And you are referencing the Vengeance one from BW something or other right? The AOR ability one only works on stage ones.

If you wanted an alternate attacker, Espeon GX isn't a bad option. (I know it's a stage one, but Energy Evolution Eevee helps keep it less clunky.)
Another option here is Garbodor. He's a stage one, but he's really good and only takes a single energy to attack.

But I would just try an support the Crobat line the best you can. Sevipers can be backup attackers if it really come down to that.

Hope that helps.

I was debating Salazzle (SM: Guardians Rising 16/145), Seviper, and then an attacker (preferably another Basic). Whatever the attacker is, as long as Special Conditions aren't being blocked, it'll enjoy a minimum of three extra damage counters placed between turns, upwards of seven.
